Depending on how this year goes, it could be plausible. Strike a death blow to Boston, *and* bring in one of the best players in the game. I guess we will see. I'd still be surprised if the Red Sox don't extend him somehow. The Jays can help lessen that chance by not taking on Price's salary. I want nothing to do with Price. Let them stew in their awful contracts I say.

Last I heard Boston was actually expecting to receive legitimate prospects in a Price deal, which is ludicrous considering his contract is a negative value contract going forward. I don't think the Jays will trade for Price, but have suspicions if Boston comes to their senses and snaps back to reality somebody will take Price off of their hands.

It's sad how little they ended up with considering the type of position player core they had before the tear down commenced. They had Dee Gordon, Realmuto, Stanton, Ozuna and Yelich, pretty damn solid core of players to start a team with. There pitching was pretty f***ing awful though.

They also had one of the best pitchers in the game. I wonder if things might have turned out different if he hadn't tragically died.

There is risk to Price, but there is also upside. I don't think he has ever been comfortable in Boston. No one is giving up anything and taking that contract on, but if they ate half the contract and were looking for a prospect back I understand it. Price at 3 years and 48 isn't a bad contract. I really have no clue what they would be willing to eat though.

I can gather what he means from context, but 'cnoetituve' is an egregious spelling error. Edited by Grant77

Rich Hill and Homer Bailey signed by the Twins.

Hill's contract is only a $3M base but his incentives can bring it to $9.5M and he should get there if he can pitch half the year.

That's just about a wrap for the SP market. A few interesting names left are Wood, Nova, McHugh, Walker, Nelson, Cashner, Vargas, old friend Aaron Sanchez. I guess interesting is a stretch for some of them.

I wonder if Felix Hernandez or Matt Harvey will find a team or will be willing to go to AAA.

Out of those, Jimmy Nelson is the most interesting. Just 22 MLB IP in 2019 and the Crew cut bait?

I think Wood, Nelson and McHugh are all interesting options as guys who you could sign to be relievers (potentially of the long-man variety) and stretch them out if injuries to the rotation occur or simply use them for 3-5 innings for that time period. I'm not sure you can trust either of those guys to give you 150 innings, so if you can squeeze out 60-100 solid innings that's a win, though I would believe they're all looking for starting opportunities. Assuming no team is offering much for their services, giving them a middling 1-2 year deal with incentives could potentially interest them all in different capacities.

Did you see how those 22 innings went? He missed all of 2018 then came back for a handful of innings in 2019 where his velocity had decreased and he forgot how to throw strikes.

Wood is a guy I would love to sign. I'm looking at him as a starter if he's healthy and performs well in spring. The back is a tricky thing. If he can get his health back there's a lot of upside.

Guys coming back from TJS often struggle initially.

It's SSS of 22 innings. The 6.95 BB/9 isn't likely to continue. Can he get back to his historical ~3 BB/9? Possibly.

As I said, he's interesting.

I agree that he's interesting, I was pointing out that it's not that odd that the Brewers decided to cut him rather than give him the arb raise which would include his ace-level season from 2017 after he'd given them nothing for two seasons.

I'd like to see one of Wood or McHugh signed. Could be solid swingman types with decent upside.
