DigitalRock Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 i believe capitalism drives lower costs and innovation, but needs reasonable controls to protect social interests such as the environment. There is no compelling social interest in the government dictating a player discipline policy to mlb. bwhahahaha, bwhahahahahaha.....

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Is Robbie Cano done? Nah...decent season
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 To be fair, Jim started it The discussion is about MLB player discipline policy, perfectly fine for Around Baseball. It was you that dragged political s*** into it.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I feel like the liberals and semi-communists I know have a huge marketing problem. They love regulation, while most of the common people hate it. However the catch is the commoners I know love law. If I told the commoners that it was illegal for General Electric to pollute rivers because of property rights (GE cannot pollute segments of a river they don't own) the commoners would love it, but my liberal freidns would hate it. Liberal professors don't want law they want to regulate. If I told the commoners it was illegal for Monsanto (Bayer) to put poison in their weed killer, and the f***in' police were coming to arrest the Monsanto/Bayer CEO, the commoners would love it. But the liberal professors not so much. It's weird. The liberal professors would want a "regulation". So most capitalists especially little guy capitalist absolutely believe in rule of law, and most environmental issues can be solved with rule of law (poison is illegal) and property rights (cannot send pollutants to someone else's property). But the liberals hate this philosaphy and would rather burn the earth, if they can't get centrally planned regulation and control of the people. So we don't have smart simple laws to protect us. This is an impressive level of stupid. You should probably delete this and hope that nobody quotes you first.

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I know the Yankees are doing fine right now with fluke performances, and I know that you should never be happy with player injuries But I am not sad that Stanton is looking like he may have major injury issues in his calfs, I am not happy, but I am not sad.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 36 yr old Hunter Pence 156 wRC+, 10 HR, .306 BABIP A mirage?

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 36 yr old Hunter Pence 156 wRC+, 10 HR, .306 BABIP A mirage? I heard or read that he's completely changed his swing path...and while it looks the same (super awkward because it's Pence) - it's not. The results have been pretty incredible so far.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Gleyber Torres destroying the s***** Orioles pitching staff night after night

The results have been pretty incredible so far. So I don't usually visit the Orioles Hangout but when I do I check out the The 2019 records of infamy thread. Personal favourite. "The Orioles have allowed 5+ home runs in 7 games, the most in a season in the history of the American League. They've played 49 games."
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I'm guessing the market for Giles will materialize quickly after Kimbrel signs. There are so many contenders who have nothing in the bullpen. Should be able to get a haul for him, he's been an absolute monster. MIN/PHI/ATL seem like the best fits and they have lots of interesting guys in their systems. Cubs have a clear need but they don't have a ton of prospect depth to deal from.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 So what's up with Syndergaard? Tigers got to him a lot in the first 2 innings
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 So what's up with Syndergaard? Tigers got to him a lot in the first 2 innings Who will have the better career. Thor or Sanchize?
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Cubs sign Kimbrel and we're in business! Ya they might have to or settle for a lesser tier trade. They should be all over him since I imagine it’ll be a one year deal and they’re better off keeping their prospects. They can justify 10M for half a season when the cupboards are bare and the need is obvious.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Probably should get Jordan Balazovic from the Twins I like Trevor Larnach

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Cards just blew a 3-0 lead in the 9th, Atlanta had only mustered three singles through eight.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Cards just blew a 3-0 lead in the 9th, Atlanta had only mustered three singles through eight. Jordan Hicks was awful, missing with all of his pitches (all 2 of them). The hitters were sitting on the fastball for the first three ABs and then he started throwing middle-middle sliders.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 Tyler Webb should walked in the go-ahead run after already walking Donaldson prior and the Cardinals rather stupidly IBB'ing Austin Riley.
