Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 The Rockies just optioned Kyle Freeland. He had a 7.31 ERA. He finished 4th in Cy Young last season. Has there been a guy in recent memory who placed Top 5 in Cy Young voting and then got optioned the following year? lol... I don't think so. Geez... he's been a tire fire this year. Another one of my guys bites the dust.

Due for regression, but was much worse than predicted.

Where Goose and Joe Morgan the only ones voting?

Joint 6th in NL in fWAR, 4th in the whole league in bWAR (8.2). Not sure why you think 4th in the Cy Young is outlandish?

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Made up for it with his first career grand slam I thought it was a bit surprising that a guy with multiple 40 HR seasons had yet to hit a grand slam, but upon further review - Sammy Sosa hit 247 dingers before launching his first grand slam, and then belted his second the next day.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 (edited) Kimbrel and Keuchel expected so sign soon after draft day I see Keuchel to Yankees. Lots of already good teams could use Kimbrel. Dodgers and Astros prob the only teams who don't seriously need either. Edited June 1, 2019 by G-Snarls

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Phillies picking up Jay Bruce... Yup...
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2019 Posted June 1, 2019 Sat, Jun 1 Updating an earlier report, Jeff Passan of ESPN reports the trade sending Jay Bruce from the Mariners to the Phillies is not imminent but talks between the two teams continue. Advice: Earlier reports indicated the trade was nearly done. Bruce is reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause to make a trade with the Phillies possible. Still no word on what the Mariners would get in the deal. Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports the Mariners are actively shopping Edwin Encarnacion, Ryon Healy, Dee Gordon, Tim Beckham and Mike Leake in addition to Bruce.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Wainwright has given up 7 walks today ... and has a 1-0 lead in the 8th inning.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Yarborough gave up 2 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th and 4 in the 5th. Gave up 1 walk and 1 hit in the 6th and 7th both of which were deleted with double plays. Who would have the balls to let a pitcher keep pitching after giving up 7 runs?

Probably the team that used 6 pitchers two days before and 4 the day prior.
