Yeah the moderation is a mess. There needs to be some hero to swoop in and clean it up.

I'm ready to punch you in the throat.

Danny Jansen's offense is slowly catching up to his elite defense, he'll be over 1 WAR by the end of the night despite his wRC+ being 70. Only 4 catchers have provided more defensive value than Jano according to fangraphs which now adds catcher framing to the equation.

It's remarkable at how this season went from absolute dread to the optimistic rebuilding year we were all hoping for in about the span of a month. P2F talked me off the ledge back then so props to him for seeing this season coming back around a bit.

This is why all the tanking talk is ********. If the team is among the worst in the league it means our young players are playing like garbage, and they were. Now we have Gurriel having a monster month and a half, Jansen rapidly heating up, Biggio being a plate discipline god, and even Grichuk having a hot couple of weeks. Vlad remains a bit disappointing given the expectations but he's still a league average hitter as a 20 year old so there's plenty to dream on there.

Yup. It’s so much better for the long term outlook that Gurriel has turned it around, Biggio is legit, Jansen is hitting etc... hopefully Vlad catches fire and contributes a couple of wins. The idea that it would be best if everyone sucked and the team lost 105 games is f***ing insane.

The young players playing well and the Jays losing 100 games is not mutually exclusive.

It kind of is actually. When a large portion of the team is young players there's a huge correlation between how well they are playing and the W-L column.

If Stroman and Giles are traded, Thornton becomes SP1 and Biagini becomes the closer. Losing a shitload of games in the 2nd half is not out of the question and it would be no reflection on Vlad et al.

Jim will you stop masturbating to the possibility of the worst Jays team since 1979? No one wants to see either of those things.

I'm personally hoping for a 1998, where the team went on a huge run after all the vets were traded and that year was looked on fondly as the team's best since the World Series years until 2015. Dug way too far of a hole this year to compete with 1998's win total, but 75+ wins would be nice.

who's tenure was responsible for the Liam Hendricks trade, cause hes having a great season and Jesse Chavis did nothing for the Jays

Anthopolus. What an awful trade.

I want to see the young players do well and the jays lose enough games to get a high pick and extra IFA money. Because I want to see a WS parade in TO sometime in the next 3-8 years.

Astros lost 111 games, won WS 4 years later.

Hendricks was acquired by Anthopoulos. Hendricks for Chavez was post-Anthopoulos pre-Atkins.

LaCava was the (interim) GM when Hendriks was traded. So it was that weird period when Shapiro just took over but didn't pick his GM yet.

I saw the logic in the deal to acquire Chavez. No one knew Sanchez was going to be so good, and no one should have expected that amount of good health to the rotation. In a normal year Chavez would have started 15 games as a swing man. That year was not normal. We stayed really, really healthy.

Still a bad trade, but for a team with a one year window, I saw some logic behind it.

So Tinnish, either way that trade didn't make much sense in terms of control, I wouldn't get my hair up over Hendriks though, lol.

You guys will do anything not to blame Shapiro

Anyways, it doesn't matter. The Braves will have a serious shot at winning the world series before the Jays do. For all the scolding that Shapiro did to AA, his contract is up next year.

You mean that as in Tinnish was the assistant GM, so he probably played a major role in the deal (and still works under the new FO)?

Yes, Lacava and Tinnish were Asst. GM's at the time?

This is the August 8th giveaway. It looks like they just slapped a sticker on a backpack, and I have no idea where I would ever actually use such a thing, yet I still really want it.

Sorry if the picture ends up being huge, I'm on my phone and can't be bothered to fix it.
