Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 If he waits until after rhe June draft to sign then he no longer causes loss of a draft pick I think at that point he's looking at a 1 year deal with a contender which is hopefully us, but probably not.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 MLBTR: The Blue Jays announced that right-hander Javy Guerra cleared waivers and has been assigned outright to Triple-A Buffalo. He’d have had the option to reject the assignment in favor of free agency, but it seems he’ll instead remain in the organization and bide his time in the minors while he awaits another crack at the MLB level. The 33-year-old veteran pitched in nine games for Toronto before being designated for assignment last week, posting a 5.40 ERA with a 12-to-4 K/BB ratio in a total of 10 innings.

Hopefully we never see him again, but pitchers just love getting injured so it's probably only a matter of time...

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 go out and sign Gio to a one year and Keuchel to a 3 year deal. He could probably be had for 3 years 39 mil at this point. 13 AAV for Keuchel? I don't think so.

tbad Verified Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Nice slam, Buck says it's a 'brand new ball game'... actually we're still losing with 1 inning remaining. A brand new ball game would be a tie game Buck.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Biggio's playing first base now. Why don't they at least play Biggio in the outfield and expand his versatility if they are going to play Gurriel at 2nd?

It's laughable.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Stroman to Phillies for Pivetta and Haseley. Would you do it? I don't think so. I get that Pivetta has solid peripherals, but he seems overly aggressive and puts a lot of pitches over the heart of the plate. A 5.5 ERA over 300 innings is pretty unsightly.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Sort of funny commentary on the Stroman/Semien AB the other night.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Stroman to Phillies for Pivetta and Haseley. Would you do it? The way Stroman has been pitching to start the season, his value is only going up. I think they could get a far better return in July. Might be able to buy low on Pivetta right now anyways. Ken Giles would be a nice fit in their bullpen and the Phillies could use some MI depth even when Segura gets back from the IL.

It's not easy getting free agents to come to Toronto. It's time to start extending guys like Stroman and Giles instead of rolling the dice on guys like Pivetta. Pivetta could turn things around, or he might just prove he's more of a number 5 than a number 2 or 3. There's far less risk with Stroman. I'd easily extend him for 3 or 4 years.
