This thread was inevitable so I figured i'd get it out of the way. It's time to give the reigns to Janssen see what the kid can do.

Holy f*** man it takes a fraction of a second to Google something.

Martin is still the more valuable MLB player, on many levels. He has a .345 OBP in a year his BABIP is .240. With a normal BABIP he's around 115 wrC+

Jansen should be perfectly fine C option tho

Martin is a surprisingly effective infielder. I'd make him the backup C next year with Jansen starting but he can also fill in at 3B as often as needed.

I think I would plan on starting the year with a 50/50 time split at C.

Let Martin take some pressure of Janzen and help with the transition of some of the younger arms, but still give Jensen enough playing time to develop. If Janssin is producing then you can change the ratio of playing time. Or likewise when Vlad Jr. eats his way off third base by July and Russell needs to become the new 3B.

i can see him effective at 3B, 1B, 2B, C, LF

Jays can carry Jansen, Martin, and a 3rd catcher in 2019

Hell, if Martin turns out to be effective at multiple positions and the bat returns, he might have trade value come July

Say what you will - but I still love having Martin on this team. That signing has worked out about as well as you could expect. He was a rock in our lineup when we made our push and when it's all said and done, he'll provide surplus value. Even during his declining years (where were expected), he remains a good clubhouse guy, a leader and now a mentor to Jansen. He may be one of the Blue Jays best FA signings ever.

He has value now if the Jays are willing to eat 90% of his salary.

I don't see any reason to move Martin. Our catching situation is awesome right now lets keep it that way.
