True, but he was hitting 93 with his cutter, according to the broadcast. He did look dominant, albeit against a B line-up.

Emphasis on B line-up.

Solarte seems a way better choice than Ngoepe. Is there something I'm missing here?

um - no. There isn't a competition. Solarte is on the team, Ngoepe is in AAA as a defensive specialist.

What i fear the most with the Tulo injury, is Ngoepe getting a s*** load of at bats. Gibbons has a thing for defensive shortstops who cant hit at all. John Macdonald got a tons of at bats under Gibby. Even when a decent hitting Eckstein was available, Gibby still gave a ton of at bats to Jmac. He is saying the same kinds of things about Ngoepe.

I think Ngoepe is making the 25 man, even with Diaz and Solarte. With no Tulo, plus Travis and Donaldson.

Gibby loves his defensive shortstops who cant hit at all.

Good. I like what I see with Solarte...

Very low K rates. Had a low BABIP last season, some pop... could fill in very well for injuries. Possibly a better player than Tulo at this point.

Oh - I don't think Solarte can play SS regularly (only in a pinch). Diaz is starting at SS while Tulo is hurt. Ngoepe will if Diaz can't hit (Diaz will have to hit, as he isn't great defensively at SS).

Ah. He doesn't strike out much and has decent power, if he doesn't hit it's bad luck IMO.

I thought Ngoepe was a thin athletic looking slap ball hitter for some reason. Dudes 5'8 and 200 pounds with no power.

Stat scouting it looks like he actually he has a pretty good eye and good line drive power for a guy who can't hit for average.

He's like a .230 hitter with 10 homer power...

Jays claim Sam Moll. 26 year old lefty who probably wouldn't embarrass himself if called up.

Won't be shocked at all if he winds up a better option than the Loups and Dermodys of the world.

Damn I didn't get to watch this game but they definitely went all out on the family ties lineup lol

Not to mention some kid named Halladay pitched the bottom of the 8th for Team Canada, 3 up and 3 down

He's 16 or 17, 6'3, and weighs (maybe) 150. 85mph is pretty impressive.

Topped out at 96 last July on the 7th sitting 78-80 at the time... already at 85, so much more room for velo, he's 17. lol

I know. My son is in 10th grade, and is no way shape or form going to be a college baseball player and tops out at 87. We played Logan Forsyth’s son this week and was easily in the high 80’s with a few at 90 and I think he’s in 9th grade.

ETA my son just told me Logan is an 8th grader.....

Halladay tops out at 96, bro. His secondaries show plus, completely different.

If true, that makes more sense. I heardo or read that today he was only throwing 85, which is great, but not extraordinary.

Logan Forsythe's 31, kid is 2 years old. Me thinks you're full of shyte! Any kid in high school that throws 87 gets invites looks... 8th grader throwing 90, lol.
