I don’t think you see a lot of high school aged baseball players .

We play in summer leagues and travel from Baton Rouge, La. to Jacksonville Fl and as far north as Knoxville, Tn and I’ve seen a lot of really good hard throwing pitchers.

My 12 yr old can throw 65, but pitches around 62 with 50 mph change.

... yet you only watch the Birds, and no one else in the post-season. Travel the US and you're this aloof???

Topped out at 96 last July on the 7th sitting 78-80 at the time... already at 85, so much more room for velo, he's 17. lol

Where did you read or hear that he topped out at 96 last July? I find that hard to believe given what I saw from him.

Are you f***ing serious right now?

First of all, a pitcher doesn't sit 15 mph less than his top, LOL..

Secondly, 96 was the best top IN HIS CLASS. During that showcase he topped out at 81.

Wouldn't the 15mph difference in where he sits vs what he tops out at sound odd to you?

WTF Spank, seriously.

Great start from Sanchez. 6 1/3 innings, 2 hits, 0 walks, 4 k's.

I think this will be a good pitching ball club. I would still rank them behind Yankees Astros Redsox and Indians but it's going to be a good pitching staff

The question is will the hitting be there

We could see Teoscar making an impact this year on the big club.

He's looking good. Probably starts in AAA but any injury or ineffectiveness that occurs to the OF/DH positions and he'll get his chance.

He is defiantly making it hard for them. Which is a good problem to have but the Strikeouts are still a concern, i think he is around 28% Ks for the spring (just doing quick math with out really looking it up).

Start him in AAA and see if we can't get those numbers down.

K% was 20.8 in 350 PA's in AAA last year and was about 16% in AA/AAA in 2016. He's only ever had an issue in his 200 PA's in AAA/majors after he was traded to the Jays...which is kind of interesting.

Interesting I guess, but probably just a SSS thing. Although looking at batted ball data his FB% jumped with the Jays, but again probably SSS.

BTW 28% K rate is right at the upper range of his projections, so not too concerning at all. The big determinant will be whether or not the power increase last year can be sustained.

I like this team a lot. When everything went wrong, we still somehow managed to win 76 games. I think a 10 win improvement with the moves we made is more than feasible, and that'll put us in the middle of it for a wildcard.

Game's on MLB.TV and MLBN...

That is probably the opening day lineup construction, just replace Solarte with JD and Hernandez with Grichuk.
