26th man for Game 1 = Mayza

26th man for Game 2 = Biagini

Donaldson activated = Smoak on pat leave

Smith Jr called up = Ngoepe optioned

 

Then when Smoak gets back = Smith Jr optioned

I think the FO sees Smith as more of a future 4th outfielder type so they don't have problems with having him come up and maybe sit on the bench a bit. They want the potentially future full time players like pompey and Alford to be getting full time at bats

I love our young OF and next year with Grandy and Pearce (presumably) gone we might be able to get some more of those kids in there.

Are you guys concerned with our starting pitching? It's supposed to be our strength but only Happ's been decent so far.

 

On the bright side our bullpen has been phenomenal and our offense much better than I expected.

it will probably get a bit better overall (stromans getting somewhat unlucky) but yea in my opinion its kind of worriosome. Estrada especially.

This was raised by Shi and Arash in the pre-game. They noted that Pompey had headaches. Not sure if anyone else caught that but that is likely why he wasn't brought up. It could also be DSJ is seen as the 4th OF, but sure the headaches played a factor too.

No, not really, that's why Smith Jr was called up.

Smith Jr will be sticking around for awhile now that Pearce is on the DL, as I see it, Santos/Ramirez and Biagini(26th man) to the farm with Urena and one of Tellez or Guerreri coming up today/Friday for a day, likely Taylor.

I would think so, though its unfair to bring up the guy for these 1 off starts in the majors. Makes it impossible to get in some sort of a groove.

 

Its not like we have great options right now, Estrada and Garcia both look horrible, both have FIPs over 6.

I'm not overly concerned, we've done pretty well despite the struggles of our rotation, and I'm confident that they are better than this. Just hope they get it together to pick the bats up when they inevitably go cold at some point here.

Yeah I can't think of a team off hand that would be desperate enough for MIF depth to take on a guy who obviously can't cut it with the stick. Could be wrong...
