Lmfao, she literally apologized for not including the accent in Cespedes

Why is this person and her ilk trying to invade my favourite sport?!

The Hardball Times seems to be a breeding ground for them.

Guys - can we go back to bitching about how f***ing stupid it is that Baines got inducted into the HOF and how s***** it is that Billy Hamilton is going to KC instead of to Coors Field - or to a contender that could utilize him in a super creative kick ass way that maximizes his ability?

I mean I suspect he went to KC so he guarantees himself a starting gig - but I wonder if that hurts him long term (unless he has some BABIP luck this year). I wonder if teams would pay him more if they could see his impact in a part-time/specialized role.

He went to a team that doesn't seem to believe in walking. Seems like a match made in heaven for him.

Boras confirmed he isn't going to the NFL. At 5'9" - it's unlikely he'd succeed there anyway.

Well of course his baseball agent is going to say that lol.

Kid is in a tough spot. Milking both sides and getting some money from Oakland is a must. At 5’11 the NFL is going to be tough, and honestly if my kid was choosing between football and baseball I’d push him to pick baseball 100% of the time. At the same time the minors can be an absolute grind with no certainty at all. Take whatever you can from Oakland to play some MiLB ball and earn your NFL cash while you can

Did he though? Or did he say he’d be at ST?

A backup/practice squad QB in the NFL might be safer than baseball. He's already got $4.66M from Oakland. Would be a huge douche move to take a NFL contract now...but would be kind of funny in the same way.

"Kyler has agreed and the [Oakland] A's agreed to a baseball contract that gave him permission to play college football through the end of the collegiate season," Scott Boras told the NFL Network. "After that, he is under contract to play baseball. That is not a determination to make. It's already done."

After the Heisman announcement on Saturday, Murray was asked if he was open to playing football as a pro, as well as baseball.

"I'd like to do both, if possible," Murray said. "But I don't know how possible that is."

Impossible for now, according to Boras.

"From a contractual perspective, it is set," he said.

Juicy...

I wonder what that would even look like?

Realmuto and Bird to Mets

Syndergaard to Yankees

Florial, Loaisiga, Kay to the Marlins

Maybe?

Something crazy like that, if the 3 get what they want, this would easily be the biggest trade this off-season. No one could top that.

For the love of god Mets, think of the rest of us please.

I suppose it's also further confirmation that D'Arnaud suxxx

I'm pretty sure I was just as upset over trading D'Arnaud as I was Syndergaard, given our catching situation at the time.

Trading Andujar for Syndergaard and then signing Machado makes sense.

This would be terrible for my BORED team on multiple levels. Plz no. I suppose the Mets see Andujar as a viable long-term 3B, because Alonso is their future at 1B.

I would think that Andujar would be going to the Marlins.

The Yankees haven't had a decent 5 man rotation in quite some time

The thought of them acquiring just that, and keeping their killer bullpen and keeping or even improving their good offense is terrifying

Putting aside my own personal biases, this trade seems pretty legit:

to Mets: JT Realmuto

to Yankees: Noah Syndergaard

to Marlins: Miguel Andujar & Clint Frazier

The Mets would have to turn around and sign some depth SP like JA Happ, but it's all within the real of possibility value-wise.

I think that framwework is pretty close, but a not-insignificant piece would have to go from Miami to the mets.

It feels like the industry perception right now has Realmuto and Syndergaard on par, given Syndergaard's durability issues and the paucity of good catchers in baseball at the moment. Certainly the Marlins have been asking for a ransom for Realmuto going back to the last year (Victor Robles+, Gary Sanchez+, for ex).

Just seems like the Yankees always win. They do that and then possibly sign Machado? That would be a pretty solid team top to bottom.

It is interesting seeing the different values obtained for Yellich vs Stanton and now presumably Realmuto.

Contract status and league supply/demand are such huge factors, providing very different value for these three very good players.
