BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I would rather have Hunter Greene or Jonathan India (obviously). Those two are maybe not off limits, if the Reds are serious about accelerating their timeline while Votto and Suarez are still good. Pillar and Stroman for India or Trammel doesn't even really seem that far-fetched.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Morton gets 2/30 from the Rays
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Morton gets 2/30 from the Rays I don't understand the perception that the league seems to have about Morton's value. First Houston not offering a QO, then nobody being willing to exceed 2/30. Morton is really good, but nobody seems to want him.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Morton to the Rays...the most Rays pitcher ever

First Houston not offering a QO, then nobody being willing to exceed 2/30. Morton is really good, but nobody seems to want him. Maybe he's a devout Scientologist, I also don't get it. In all likelihood, he'll earn that entire contract in 2019 and 2020 will be free gravy for the Rays. They way they utilize pitchers, they could probably get 4 WAR out of him in 150 IP.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 The Yankees should have been all over this deal weeks ago at this price. Give me Morton over JA Happ all day long.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I want nothing to do with Astros pitchers. Let the Rays have him, we would be far better off with Happ.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 The Yankees should have been all over this deal weeks ago at this price. Give me Morton over JA Happ all day long. It's going to make no sense at all when Happ gets 3/45 or something.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I want nothing to do with Astros pitchers. Let the Rays have him, we would be far better off with Happ. lol why

It definitely makes no sense.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Rays continue to be outstanding at asset management. I would haved loved to have had Morton.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I don't think MLB is ready to buy in on the value of the 5 inning pitcher, who happens to be 35.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I don't think MLB is ready to buy in on the value of the 5 inning pitcher, who happens to be 35. I’m legitimately surprised to find he went 6+ innings 18 times last year.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Looks like there's also an option for a 3rd year at 15M if he stays fairly healthy, but could be as low as 1M if he misses significant time.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 India and Siri for Stroman, Pillar, and RP.....we got this lol
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 India and Siri for Stroman, Pillar, and RP.....we got this lol Stroman, Pillar, and Giles for Senzel (assuming the vertigo issues aren't a concern moving forward)!
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 you guys are going to be disappointed when it's Stroman for Shed Long, TJ Friedl and Lyon Richardson
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 lol why There's obviously a lot of different stuff going on with their pitchers. Unless we know what it is and can use the same methods then we're better off staying away.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 you guys are going to be disappointed when it's Stroman for Shed Long, TJ Friedl and Lyon Richardson Shed Long is pretty good
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 There's obviously a lot of different stuff going on with their pitchers. Unless we know what it is and can use the same methods then we're better off staying away. Mortons success started in 2016 when he was with the Phillies and started throwing 96.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Why are the Reds looking to acquire pitching when their entire team is a hot pile of garbage? Probably think Castillo and Mahle and some others are going to be solid / break out.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Mortons success started in 2016 when he was with the Phillies and started throwing 96. He threw 94 over 4 starts and 17 innings that season. You would expect a slight bump when he only throws 4.1 innings per game.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 Stroman for Trammell would work for me. Then absorb Roark's contract, sign Mike Fiers, etc, to fill out the rotation. Doubt the Reds do it, but F it. I would get my first erection in years if that happened. If the Reds balk, throw in Giles. Trammell has chance to be elite. And he's nothing like Gose, honest.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 He threw 94 over 4 starts and 17 innings that season. You would expect a slight bump when he only throws 4.1 innings per game. if you want to be a concise, he threw 95.4 (compared to 92.9 in 2015). so you're wrong
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 if you want to be a concise, he threw 95.4 (compared to 92.9 in 2015). so you're wrong He averaged 94.3 mph on fastballs according to fangraphs. Besides, it was SEVENTEEN innings. You're obviously being a little sack of s*** troll so do us all a favour and go f*** off.
King Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 He averaged 94.3 mph on fastballs according to fangraphs. Besides, it was SEVENTEEN innings. You're obviously being a little sack of s*** troll so do us all a favour and go f*** off. You're wrong, again. 94.3 is his career fastball velocity including 2017 and 2018. He averaged 95.4 in 2016. Also, fastball velocity stabilizes quickly so 17 innings was more than enough to be an indicator of his talent level. Not surprisingly, it carried over into 2017 and 2018. your blood pressure spiked even faster than Mortons velocity when he was with the Phillies
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I’ve been wanting to do that for like 14 years
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 I’ve been wanting to do that for like 14 years He's not wrong though.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 He's not wrong though. King would never troll these forums.
