Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Given how good the Yankees and Sox are, we better get used to term. If we don't give extra years for guys who's going to come to the Jays over the next few years. We're going to have a lot of cash to spend in a couple years, but it won't do us any good if we can't convince anyone to come here. Signing FA not only way to accrue commitments

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Does this preclude a Harper return? Roll with a Soto, Robles, Eaton OF? Rendon, Turner, Zimmerman & Gomes on the IF isn't too shabby either. "IF" they can stay healthy and Robles can step right in and produce, they "should" be a good team.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Nationals nearing deal with Chirinos Astros* I was confused why they were adding a third catcher!
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 That Corbin contract... woof. Not a shot I'd be giving him 6 years

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Even though he is spending his off-season calling out your boy Bregman? Only thing he has wrote that I didn't like is saying "I was better than Kluber last year" I understand the honesty of the statement but leave your own teammates out of it. Between his hatred and refusal to take long term contracts he'll end up the most interesting free agent ever. Bauer talking about him and Bregman's back and forth also right after Perez talked about how Bauer's Twitter posts are a non issue in the clubhouse as they are entertained too Bregman is a boring personality and doesn't really seem like the sharpest tool in the shed. I like his performance on the field but he's forgettable otherwise. I don't mind Bauer clowning on him at all.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Assuming Greinke would net a paltry return, I think I'd rather trade for Greinke at 3 for 105 than Corbin at 6 for 140.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Not sure how much Goldshmidt's gonna get back in return with just one year left.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, and Andy Young to Arizona in exchange for a season of Goldy.
Ray Verified Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, and Andy Young to Arizona in exchange for a season of Goldy. That's a pretty good return for 1 year of Goldschmidt.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Greinke likely next to be traded I would imagine. David Peralta would be a nice target as a corner OF.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 That's a pretty good return for 1 year of Goldschmidt. Would have been nice to get that return for 1 year of Donaldson last offseason.
Ray Verified Member Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Would have been nice to get that return for 1 year of Donaldson last offseason. We would've gotten Flaherty over Weaver, which makes it even worse.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Cards will probably trade Jose Martinez for nothing pretty soon. Probably to the Rays. I'm kind of surprised he wasn't just part of the Goldy package.
Ray Verified Member Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 4 years at $17M would be an overpay imo
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 4 years at $17M would be an overpay imo Gross, 4/68 for Eovaldi would be extremely risky.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Gross, 4/68 for Eovaldi would be extremely risky. The thought is they're going to use him as a closer, well, according to the MLB Tonight panel.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Banning the shift is gaining momentum. I can't wait to see a play overturned because someone didn't stand in the right place

I can't wait to see a play overturned because someone didn't stand in the right place Banning the shift sounds like an awful idea, but I'd imagine that players with high exit velo will begin to correlate with a higher wRC+
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Anyone have a subscription to The Athletic? Is it any good? Seen a promo, $1 for 3 Months, just signed up.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I think P2F will also vouch for The Athletic amazing resources for fantasy hockey. P2F Is always quoting Dom's projections to me when trying to convince me to sign off on a move. It can be get annoying but Dom is truly a brilliant fantasy hockey mind
