Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 His platoon splits are absolutely massive, but they are able to shelter him from LHPs because of his unique situation. I'm curious to see if his total ineptitude against same side pitchers continues as the sample size gets larger. Do you happen to know if his splits from Japan are available? I'd be interested to see what his numbers looked like against LHP over there.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 David Wright is 10 games into rehab at A+ ball. You have to admire his drive and commitment to returning to baseball. 52.2 Career WAR in about 11 full seasons. Injuries have robbed him from what probably would have been a HOF career. He's set for life financially, yet he still gets up everyday trying to work his way back to the majors. Tip the cap.

They are definitely pretty extreme, but they haven't given him many PAs to improve against lefties as they bench him vs left-handed starters and he doesn't start interleague games/has missed time on the DL. For a hitter this young and gifted, I'd think over time he could turn into a 100 wRC+ vs same-handed pitching kind of hitter.

The sample size is so small that you'd have to just regress his platoon split like 95% to the mean at this point anyway.
tercet Verified Member Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 So the Cardinals made their interim manager full time.. I went to Cardinals @ Pirates game 3 weeks ago. After the game Harrison Bader managed to be infront of me while crossing the bridges to DT pittsburgh, and he was with someone presumably his dad talking mad s*** about the manager and 3b coach, bahahahhahahahahah

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 That feeling Peralta must have when he just realized he gave up a leadoff home run to Billy Hamilton...
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Man, you could see the mark on Price's arm from that line drive. Probably saved himself getting hit in the face though.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Lucas Duda to the Braves. Since his value is probably nothing not a bad pinch hitter to acquire for the NL playoff race.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Gleyber Torres continues to botch routine plays.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Stanton just hit his 300th career homerun.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Jesus, that was fast. meh, a full year older than A-Rod and like 70 games more than Kiner.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Luke Voit is taking all the shine away from Greg Bird.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 31, 2018 Posted August 31, 2018 Amazing story about the negotiation to get Stanton back the ball. Yankees head of security negotiated with the fan and it was a meet and greet with Stanton after the game, several signed balls. A tour of the clubhouse and stadium, future Yanks tickets...and the guy asked for 2 beers as well. Plus f*** yes Luke Voit
