I get it, there's definitely a mental aspect. But wouldn't it be more demoralizing to get sent down to AAA while your team is in a playoff run rather than to just be dropped to low leverage spots for a while until you "figures it out"? I can't see any good reason that Albers should be on the roster over Knebel unless he's injured or he just completely hit a roadblock in his performance, and given his peripherals, this really doesn't seem to be the case.

No I don't think being sent to AAA is more demoralising. I would think having 3 or 4 guys move past you on the depth chart and you pitching in low leverage roles would bug the s*** out of someone. I know it would bug the s*** out of me. At least with the demotion you can get away from the team for 10 days and clear your mind. It could definitely have a placebo effect. When you're giving up runs and you're frustrated. Being told you're just getting unlucky isn't helping you. You're still pissed off you're giving up runs. He will be back September 1st no matter what so why not try it.

Giants' Holland apologizes after racially insensitive joke

Aug 24, 2018

NEW YORK (AP) San Francisco Giants pitcher Derek Holland has apologized after a television interview during which he used a mock Asian accent.

Holland expressed remorse while talking to reporters Thursday in the visiting clubhouse at Citi Field while the Giants were in New York for a series against the Mets.

"I want to be held accountable for everything that I've done and caused with all of this. It's embarrassing what I did," Holland said. "I was just trying to have some fun."

Holland made the racially insensitive joke during an appearance Wednesday on MLB Network's "Intentional Talk." He appeared alongside Giants massage therapist Haro Ogawa, whom he introduced as his "hype man" and whom he addressed at various points during the interview.

Holland told reporters he apologized to Ogawa.

The Giants also issued a statement saying the team was disappointed to learn of Holland's behavior on the show.

"We do not condone that type of behavior nor does it reflect our organizational values," the team's statement said. "Derek has taken full responsibility for his actions and has made a public apology."

The trainer looked like he was enjoying himself. Who are the outraged people even trying to protect?

10 dollars for a glass of cranberry juice?!

30 dollar pancakes?!

Holy f***, must be nice to own a business where your customers don't give two shits about how much you charge them.

Some people can't get enough of the Cobb salad. It's like every time they're presented with a menu and the Cobb salad is a meal option, they opt for the Cobb salad and they're usually left with a bit of a foul taste in their mouth.

Rumor has it the Cobb salad is being made with better quality ingredients lately.

Kevin Millar said those were normal prices for room service when he played, said that's what cost him in NY 15 years ago, lol. The life of a millionaire.

I've heard another rumour that those better quality ingredients are really just the same old humdrum ingredients of the past, but the restaurant is trying its best to market the Cobb salad as a premium offering.

Clay Holmes just walked Jordan Lyles with two outs to load the bases in the bottom of the 15th and his team up 6-4. He's walked 3 in the inning and it's now 6-6.

f***ing lol.

Edit: Brewers walk it off.

Odor after the error, yeah, now they gave it away.

Yeah, exactly. And the Giants were up 6-0 in that game. Ouch!

Some pretty crazy finishes tonight, Spanky.

Has anyone else been looking at a 'commercial break in progress' screen in the Dodgers/Padres game for the last 5 minutes or more? What in the f*** is going in?
