I mean yes I would.

However, substance or no substance, a drastic change in your pitch usage could partially explain the newfound success. That's all I'm saying (I'll stop now).

It's good to challenge the narrative I'm supporting (obviously I have no proof) and you're correct, maybe that's the case. However, wouldn't a team like Toronto or LA or TB figured that out years ago? Verlander's explanation is that he looked at slowmo of his release on different pitches and how they came out of his hand. Almost every stadium has those slowmo cameras and apparently Verlander is a research hound.

So, at age 35, on a pitch you're trying to get as much spin as possible, it's never occurred to him before that he should check that? Further more, how did he change the release of his pitches so that no ill effects at all were felt during the transition?

It smells like serious ******** to me.

Another medical miracle dropped down by Dr. Boxy. Stay away from soy and you’ll keep your hair. Keep this s*** coming and you could sell books

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll come up with a miracle cure for 5'5" guys so that can start dating women that are shorter than they are.

I know you’d feel better if that were true. You need to solve the sexual indentity crisis you have going on and the maybe you wouldn’t be so snarky

Not to add gas to the fire, but Adam Ottavino used the slow mo camera in a warehouse this offseason to make tangible improvements (sorry for posting this again).

Then again - maybe he just borrowed a bottle of the sticky stuff from Houston too (I'm just making a joke - you're triggered here).

Lol I'm not triggered at all. I just think Houston is up to something. I don't fault them for doing it of they get away with it, but I think it's fishy. Connor is just a rambunctious jackass that I sometimes have to keep in line.

I like the Boxy narrative better. Verlander’s first 12 years in the league he’s against any doctoring of the baseball. Even when his career seems headed for the toilet (especially to observers on this board) and he has a massive contact, he doesn’t go down that dark road. But he bounces back anyway in 2016 and pitches like one the best in baseball 10 k’s/9 and 5-1 k/bb. Gets traded to Houston and as soon as he gets off the plane before his first start he says “maybe it’s time I started cheating” The rest is history. Boxy’s sleuthing skills are unmatched

Drew Pomeranz either is still injured or just has become awful--Royals are teeing off him.

He's lost 3 MPH off his heater so I'm gonna go with injured. Still injured. Usually/always injured. TJS by the All-Star Break.

Yet another Angels pitcher bites the dust. Nick Tropeano to the DL with shoulder inflammation. LA really has injury issues with their pitching--which is why I expect the team to be out of contention by the All-Star break.. Trout can't carry this team alone.

Now is the time to trade them Happ

Can't you just watch the games in silence? The rest of us don't need to be subjected to every reactionary thought you have.

Good f***ing god, man. Give it a rest.

I'm starting to get the sense that you don't think highly of the Angels and their pitching.

Can't see Angels hanging in there for 2nd WC... gotta be Jays or I guess Mariners? So many s*** teams in the AL this year that don't seem to have a chance.

You can't keep burning out the bullpen, which the Angels have done a lot of (126.2 IP, 2nd most in baseball behind the Padres--but at least with the Padres, it's due to rebuilding.) Plus, the Angels rotation has significant injury risk, with all of Skaggs, Richards, Heaney, Shoemaker and Tropeano having spent significant time on the DL in the last year or two due to significant elbow/shoulder injuries, and in Shoemaker's case, his skull. And Bridwell, a call-up option, is also hurt. And Jaime Barria is not close to MLB ready--especially after that disaster in San Fran. And the lack of innings from the rotation (139.2 IP or 4.8 innings/start, worst in baseball), is a serious issue.

And the offense stinks. Outside of Trout, there isn't much there--part of the reason Showalter decided to walk him basically every time yesterday, and it's shown the last 2 weeks, as they've gone 4-9 since their 13-3 start, with the lack of offense the main blame. That 17-12 record is an illusion--the pyth record is closer to .500 and out of contention, rather than being a top team in the West.

Getting on base? They don't have it--near the bottom of the AL in walks and OBP. And their average is middle of the pack--mostly due to Trout and Simmons.

Basically, yes. Oakland would be in the mix if their pitching wasn't so awful. And Tampa.. is just a quagmire. Minny was supposed to be in the mix, but their pitching is trash, and we'll see how Romero does as video goes out on him after today's start.. and they can't hit! Buxton and Sano's injuries hurt..

The Angels have about as good of a chance to win the WC as we do. They have their flaws but I would expect them to present us the biggest challenge for WC2. Mariners, Twins, A's, Rays in that order have a shot. Rangers have a snowball's chance. Rest of the teams are junk.

Updated projections has us 1 game up on them in the 2nd wildcard. Mariners a game behind them.
