I wonder if it's actually the speed factor, or just the slap hitter approach that dinks singles over the infield that matters more. Would be an interesting case study.

 

I'm sure it would have correlate to guys who put the ball in play at a high rate too, but I remember when ichiro set the hits record, it was some ridiculous number like 60+ infield hits.
