wamco Verified Member Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 May have been a different story if the Jays had won either of those games haha. Nah just kidding, Cleveland was a nice little city. I went there 2 years ago for a jays games. Stayed in the burbs. I got there at 10 pm. By 7am my car was broken into and everything stolen. My kids were devastated. We froze at the game the next day.
SouthOfThe6ix Verified Member Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Anyone ever been to Seattle for a game? I'm heading there in the summer and I've never been.

Yes, the ballpark is really nice, very picturesque. It's downtown right next to the NFL stadium, with some good sports bars nearby. If you're looking for something else to do while there, apart from the obvious touristy things like the space needle, I strongly recommend a visit to the Boeing factory just outside the city. You tour the facilities and see planes (including the enormous double decked new design) in various stages of being built.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I've only gone to Cleveland and that was now somehow eleven years ago. Ugh, I need to fix this. People were really nice to us everywhere we went, but the Jays were also swept, so perhaps that helped...
jglicksm Verified Member Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Thanks to all those who responded. I'm also wondering for those who went to other stadiums did you happen to download the MLB.com Ballpark app? If you have it downloaded were you able to use the check-in feature at any stadium and not just at the Rogers Centre? Ya you can check in at any stadium.

My wife and I were definitely going to visit the space needle, but we were searching for other things to do, as well! Thanks for the suggestion! We'll definitely check it out.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 I have seen the Jays on the road about 8 times, only time I had issues was in Boston but that is just typical ass clown Boston people in general. I usually get seats behind the visitor dugout and you will be around more Jays fans that way. I always got weird looks walking around the city I am in wearing my Jays gear and the odd "Go Jay Go EH?" but besides that all good fun.

Seattle is my favourite MLB park that I have been to. Have been to Toronto, Chicago both, Seattle, LA, San Fran, Oakland, Anaheim. The Boeing plant is probably pretty cool if you are into planes. It wasn't really my thing though. Apparently it is the biggest building in the world. Its definitely a day trip as its well outside of Seattle. The one thing in Seattle I would absolutely recommend that you do is the Underground Tour. It is the best tour I have been on in any city and have done it three times. You learn a lot about the history of the city and its very entertaining. The Experience Music Project and Sci Fi museum are near the space needle and the same ticket gets you into both. I definitely found that a worthwhile visit as well.
BJBirdy Verified Member Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I've seen the Jays in a handful of opposing ballparks, so here's my experiences in each one: Boston: I saw the Jays there on 3 occasions between 2013-2014 and never really had any issues. The first game was Wang's bad outing in June 2013 when the Jays got shelled, but the latter two were Jays wins. The only real "issue" I had was someone yelling at me (I can't even remember what, but I just ignored it) after Melky Cabrera homered in the top of the first inning. Jose Bautista homered in the next at-bat and no one said anything to me after that. Plus there were a lot of Jays fans there, so it's not like I was 1 among 35,000 Red Sox fans. Baltimore: I saw the Jays here in 2011. It was a small crowd (Brian Matusz bobbleheads were supposed to be given out to the first 20,000 fans and only 19,000 fans showed up). I had no problems at all, and in fact the staff in the ballpark were very friendly to my girlfriend and myself since we were out of towners. New York: I saw the Jays at Yankee Stadium in 2012 and 2014. Surprisingly I had no issues, but I also was in the upper deck sitting among a bunch of tourists and non-Yankees fans. Cleveland: I saw the Jays here in 2011 and 2015 without any problems at all. 2016 at the ALCS, however, I did have one douchebag couple saying things to me unprovoked for a while. After the game, the woman made a crying gesture at me and finally I'd had enough so I went over to ask her what her problem was. She pretty much just sarcastically told me to have a nice ride home and then her husband came over to defend her and he more or less told me the same thing. I shook his hand and said "you too, **********" and at that point he decided to get out of there immediately as he kept looking over his shoulder at me on his way out. After that though, a nice couple in their late 40s came over and chatted with me for about 5 minutes, so I had a pretty good experience overall in Cleveland. Detroit: Saw the Jays here in 2010. No problems that I can recall, other than some cute girl playfully talking junk to me as the Jays were winning. One guy behind me told me to sit down after I applauded Jose Molina's home run. I was about to tell him to "f*** off" until I remembered I was there with my parents Pittsburgh: Saw the Jays here in 2008. No problems, but then again it was about 1/3 Jays fans, so.... I think that covers it.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 I think what you will find where ever you go is that there are obviously always *******s in every city that you may encounter even Toronto lol.... But most people at the stadiums are generally pretty nice or just ignore you.

I don't talk s*** and act like an idiot, so as a result I generally don't have people talking s*** to me for no reason except for that time in Cleveland at the ALCS.

The amount of douchebag bandwagon know-it-all fans that attend games nowadays is amazing. It pisses me off so much listening to absolute horrible hot takes in my section in the 200 level.

I remember the first month of the season last year I had morons complaining about Jose Bautista and his $150 Million request. Plus the hard on for Ryan Goins.

I sat behind a guy in Spring Training who was telling his buddy that Goins was a good hitter and complaining the Jays didn't bring in anyone to replace Smoak at 1st base. At least at home I can mute Buck and Tabby!!!

urtman Verified Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Seen the Jays at Fenway, Yankee Stadium, Cleveland and Chicago. No problems whatsoever anywhere and in fact the locals were quite friendly. No surprise as baseball fans are probably the most chill of all the major sports in North America. Seen the Leafs on the road and the locals fans are not so nice verbally abusing visiting fans. The worst is the NFL where visiting fans get harsh verbal abuse and sometimes physical abuse.

I remember the first month of the season last year I had morons complaining about Jose Bautista and his $150 Million request. Plus the hard on for Ryan Goins. Last year on Josh Donaldson bobblehead day, Jesse Chavez came into the game and gave up a homer. The guy behind me yells "BRETT CECIL, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU, JEEZ!" A moment later he gets informed, not by me, that that's not Brett Cecil out there. He says "Oh it's not Cecil? I saw it was a lefty and assumed it was." I guess the guy was dyslexic since Jesse Chavez is right handed.... Take the good with the bad...there are more hot girls at Jays games than ever. This. So much of this.
bnnguy Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Not to rub it in but Im going to the Jays/Sox at Fenway for their series in third week of July. Got great tickets direct from team box office for the Monday game if you're considering it ...
Nafro Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 That's one place where there may be more Jays fans, then the home team. I went on a bus trip to see a couple Jays game's in Yankee Stadium. The last year of the Stadium, before the new one opened. The Yankee fans were repectful homers. The whole trip with Great Canadian was one of the greatest memories I have. Time Square, the Empire State Building, and more solemn, going to the World Trade Centre site, and hearing our tour guide speak about that day. The attack's took place on the day of New York City's Primary election. It was also the first day of school. Because of these two coinciding events; Thousands were not in the building yet because they went to vote, or were taking kids to school before they planned to head to work.
