  1. Yeah, ironically he tweeted it just as I was watching it for the first time. I was about to check his profile to see if he commented on the commercial or to ask him if it was him, but someone just beat me to it.
  2. I heard Barry's voice on a Reese's commercial while I was in Montreal over the weekend. Seriously.
  3. He played first against the Yankees the other day. He made an error, but the ball was well hit enough that I wouldn't have argued too much had they ruled it a hit.
  4. Being rather new here, when I first saw this thread I thought you guys were congratulating Brett Cecil's dad on having another child at an old age.... Nonetheless, congrats to this Big Cecil guy. I'm sure I'll interact with you on here at some point.
  5. No sir, I'm talking about the deal where Scott Rolen was dealt to Cincinnati in exchange for three young studs, all of whom were massive busts and one big first baseman man who even got DFAed AND released by the Blue Jays at one point!
  6. This. My sources tell me that he'll be in New Hampshire by mid-May at the latest.
  7. I'm a little surprised to see it took this long for them to finally sever ties with Jake Anderson. I sort of figured that would've happened at the end of last season.
  8. Also, what if Zach Stewart had worked out? Because that Scott Rolen trade was a bust otherwise.
  9. As great as that sounds in theory, if the Jays don't deal Syndergaard then there's a good chance one of Stroman, Sanchez, et. al would've been moved instead at some point. As much as I'd love to imagine the Jays would have a plethora of young arms, I have to imagine someone or a pair of them would've been dealt later on at some point.
  10. This post pretty much sums up my opinion as well. When the team was struggling in 2013, then again in spurts in 2014 and 2015, I never put the blame on him but I wouldn't have been opposed to the Jays finding a replacement for him. But looking at things now, I'm happy he's the manager because under his guidance when have you ever heard about any sort of clubhouse drama? (Other than the Hillenbrand and Lilly incidents of 2006, which is long enough ago that no one should be able to use that against him in 2017).
  11. Last year on Josh Donaldson bobblehead day, Jesse Chavez came into the game and gave up a homer. The guy behind me yells "BRETT CECIL, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU, JEEZ!" A moment later he gets informed, not by me, that that's not Brett Cecil out there. He says "Oh it's not Cecil? I saw it was a lefty and assumed it was." I guess the guy was dyslexic since Jesse Chavez is right handed.... This. So much of this.
  12. The amount of douchebag bandwagon know-it-all fans that attend games nowadays is amazing. It pisses me off so much listening to absolute horrible hot takes in my section in the 200 level.
  13. This right here. I don't talk s*** and act like an idiot, so as a result I generally don't have people talking s*** to me for no reason except for that time in Cleveland at the ALCS.
  14. I've seen the Jays in a handful of opposing ballparks, so here's my experiences in each one: Boston: I saw the Jays there on 3 occasions between 2013-2014 and never really had any issues. The first game was Wang's bad outing in June 2013 when the Jays got shelled, but the latter two were Jays wins. The only real "issue" I had was someone yelling at me (I can't even remember what, but I just ignored it) after Melky Cabrera homered in the top of the first inning. Jose Bautista homered in the next at-bat and no one said anything to me after that. Plus there were a lot of Jays fans there, so it's not like I was 1 among 35,000 Red Sox fans. Baltimore: I saw the Jays here in 2011. It was a small crowd (Brian Matusz bobbleheads were supposed to be given out to the first 20,000 fans and only 19,000 fans showed up). I had no problems at all, and in fact the staff in the ballpark were very friendly to my girlfriend and myself since we were out of towners. New York: I saw the Jays at Yankee Stadium in 2012 and 2014. Surprisingly I had no issues, but I also was in the upper deck sitting among a bunch of tourists and non-Yankees fans. Cleveland: I saw the Jays here in 2011 and 2015 without any problems at all. 2016 at the ALCS, however, I did have one douchebag couple saying things to me unprovoked for a while. After the game, the woman made a crying gesture at me and finally I'd had enough so I went over to ask her what her problem was. She pretty much just sarcastically told me to have a nice ride home and then her husband came over to defend her and he more or less told me the same thing. I shook his hand and said "you too, **********" and at that point he decided to get out of there immediately as he kept looking over his shoulder at me on his way out. After that though, a nice couple in their late 40s came over and chatted with me for about 5 minutes, so I had a pretty good experience overall in Cleveland. Detroit: Saw the Jays here in 2010. No problems that I can recall, other than some cute girl playfully talking junk to me as the Jays were winning. One guy behind me told me to sit down after I applauded Jose Molina's home run. I was about to tell him to "f*** off" until I remembered I was there with my parents Pittsburgh: Saw the Jays here in 2008. No problems, but then again it was about 1/3 Jays fans, so.... I think that covers it.
  15. I'm more than okay with Jackie Redmond taking over for Hazel Mae during Jays games.
  16. Meh, he's not that bad. Granted, I only listened for about a minute or so before I returned to my regular spotify playlist. But since I'm a Jays fan, if his cover band was in my area I'd go with some buddies, drink some beers and listen to Barry sing just for the hell of it.
  17. He's worked with sports psychologists about this issue in the past.
  18. I personally have never had a chance to attend a game there yet, but from what I've seen this is probably accurate. My favorite Grapefruit League stadium that I've been to is Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, but I haven't been there in years. I'd love to check out Sarasota's renovated ballpark since the last time I was there was in 2010, just before the renovation.
  19. Stroman actually blocked me on Twitter about a month ago. I didn't even tag him in a tweet. I just generically tweeted out that I hoped that one day he finds a nice girl that he loves almost as much as he loves himself. Clearly he searches his own name on Twitter because I was blocked literally 60 minutes later.
  20. I bought a flex pack (or whatever they call them these days) for the second straight year, plus I got tickets to Canada Day. I'm pretty happy with what I got since I paid the lowest price possibly outside of having season tickets, and have the peace of mind of knowing I like my seats, that I got a pair side by side, and that I paid a pretty decent price.
  21. I don't read a lot into Tellez's playing time, but it's nice to see that they're giving him a lot of experience this spring. The only way I see him making the team out of spring training is if he hits .400 and Smoak his .025, and even then I highly doubt he'd make the club without someone else going down with an injury. But regardless of that, I'm not super high on having prospects skip AAA entirely so I'd rather he start the year in Buffalo regardless of his spring training numbers. If he goes to Buffalo and has an awesome April, then maybe give him a callup in May if the right opportunity arises.
  22. It just seems to me that if Pompey wasn't from Canada, let alone the GTA, fans (especially the uneducated ones on Twitter) wouldn't be campaigning so hard for him to make the team or playing the "Shapiro hates Pompey" card every time Ceciliani or another outfielder gets a callup over him. It's nice to see that most of the users on here, however, realize that Pompey is best suited to start 2017 in Buffalo.
  23. Honestly, I think Dalton Pompey is overrated. Now, that doesn't mean I don't think he has MLB potential, but I'm just saying that I'd rather he not start the 2017 season with the Blue Jays, even as a 4th outfielder. Have him start the year in Buffalo and if he comes out kicking ass for the first 4-5 weeks of the season, then give him a shot. He had a decent season in Buffalo on paper last year, but he had a rather poor second half of the season with the Bisons.
  24. I apologize for not reading the entire thread, but one thing I'd do is open up the old Hard Rock Cafe as an extension of the FlightDeck (it's easily connectable) OR having the Jays open it as a Jays themed restaurant. Even if it's only open on Jays game days, I gotta imagine it'd do enough business to make it viable, and with tickets being at a premium right now you'd think people would watch games from there.
  25. I wonder how many of those bandwagon Jays fans from 2015 have forgiven Shapiro for being "cheap" and not signing Price to that big contract now....
