Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 The NFL is such a joke every time I see news about them it's some controversy or a team is relocating The Raiders needed to move. That Stadium is atrocious as we know. They missed the boat on LA and now they have to leave California all together.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I forget what you call the excessive use of serifs in fonts but it's a really annoying design trend. I don't even think they're called serifs when they are mid-letter like that but whatever it is, it looks foolish. The Angels are notorious offenders. I hate you. I spent like 45 minutes trying to figure it out. I think this is as close as it gets. http://www.typographydeconstructed.com/quaint/ It's not really part of the anatomy of a font, but a general style of writing. Sometimes called fancy western.
wamco Verified Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 in terms of what? A random list of the 4 major sports I think
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 in terms of what? How well run the leagues are. I think I'd rank them that way in personal preference as well in terms of entertainment. Blue Jays are my favouite team by far and I enjoy the MLB year round the most but if you were to ask me to watch only 1 game in each of the leagues I'd choose a GSW/CLE game first.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Good news on a couple of fronts: 1. This hopefully will be a 1 year thing in celebration of 150 years for Canada. 2. They appear to be using red undershirts. Question - will this replace the blue jersey's this year? The sportsnet app feed I read called the red jerseys their "alternative for 2017" - which is what I thought the blue ones were...or are the blue ones their 3rd jersey or something stupid?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 LMAO they're still married She must do anal.

They will probably wear the Blue ones more than the white ones once again this season. That's a permanent jersey.

Perhaps just the Canada Day game or its a ploy to get people to buy the jerseys. If fans don't like them, I doubt they would continue with it.

And Greenwood has his commentary when people refer to trades as rape...I will leave you with these words from a Special Olympian. It's an older letter but he's still been fighting the case on TV and the point still stands. I'm not going to ban words... -is the N word banned?

EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I mean the jersey look fine but they're just overdoing it if they're planning to use these for a while. I want to see blue on my blue jays.

While I'm at it f*** that big ass flag they wheel out every year on to the field too and the fans that bring Canadian flags to games.

For a Canadian who likes baseball but doesn't live in Toronto, would you expect them to support the Yankees or Dodgers instead?

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 This should go over well: If he means the new normal on Canada Day and Canada Baseball Day I'm fine with it. We will see though.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 That's a pretty narrow minded view. For a Canadian who likes baseball but doesn't live in Toronto, would you expect them to support the Yankees or Dodgers instead? They don't need to pander to them. Particularly when so many people outside of Toronto like to s*** on this city. Besides that, when fans show up in droves all wearing blue (the blue alternates are probably the most popular), it creates a look of unity, especially when the team is also wearing them. This is especially true when the team travels to Seattle. It's like playing a home game. You never saw this back in the 90's, because fans generally didn't go all out when it came to team gear. That's not the case anymore, so why mess with a good thing? Plus, the red uniforms are just ugly. The red maple leaf against the red of the cap just doesn't stand out: Enough tinkering with the set. The organization made a mistake when they first changed the uniforms not long after the team's greatest success, and for years they kept tinkering with it until they finally nailed it with the current set. I'd just like to see the organization have some respect for the brand.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 They don't need to pander to them. Particularly when so many people outside of Toronto like to s*** on this city. Maximising fan support from outside the Toronto area can only be a good thing finance wise. Increased sales of merchandise, tickets, and Rogers tv packages all should help the team budget to continue to increase. The red maple leaf against the red of the cap just doesn't stand out TBF if people started wearing the red jerseys surely that would mean that they are popular and not considered ugly by the people wearing them? FWIW I don't really like the red uniforms. But, as an alternative that probably will be used at most 15 times a year, it's not something to get that worked up about IMO.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 The red on red blue jay symbol on the jersey makes me want to vomit. Art's post is spot on. The White, Grey and Blue jerseys are magnificent and they should stick with them.
