I hadn't even considered that this was a Canada 150 thing. If that was the rationale then it's weird that they didn't try to incorporate the Canada 150 logo (not that it would make me like the uni any more than I do). On the plus side, if it is a Canada 150 thing then they should theoretically only be around for one season.

I understand this is a selling tool, but to sell more red and make the dome blue & red everywhere doesnt have the same effect as to when its all blue & white. Especially when were playing red teams like the red sox it just looks so much worse

Yeah if you are going to do red, that jersey was pretty much perfect. Of course, that's the whole problem. If you're going to sell these than they have to look significantly different and there was nowhere to go but down from that design.
