This season would be a good opportunity to see if Smith Jr. and/or Leblebijian can play in the majors. Dump Cecilliani and another JAG reliever and see what you've got.

Acronym of the day?

It's a shame that Lourdes has basically zero playing time under his belt because he would be a super fun guy to promote given all the positions he plays. It's also a crying shame that Pompey is on the DL. There's really not much interesting on the 40 right now. As bad as Cecilliani is, I think promoting him as strictly a pinch runner or emergency defensive replacement would be sensible and fairly probable.

This is what I was thinking with the guys on the 40. Pompey's conky is really costing him right now, it's too bad.

Yeah it really sucks that Pompey got hurt. This was the perfect opportunity for him.

Smith Jr. should play everyday when the team gives up eventually. Maybe they have something there. If not, at least he was given a real shot.

He doesn't deserve to be on a roster. He has done nothing to warrant major league service time. And doesn't bring enough to the table to warrant a limited role either.

Give the 40-man spot to Smith Jr. Former first round pick and might actually be a decent long term option. He could play regularly. And Zeke can go back to filling the role you want Cecilliani to fill. Or with Morales out they can just put Bautista at DH or whatever.

Why were sources saying Donaldson and Tulo would be back on Monday, if they are both not close.

It appears to be Wild speculation by Gibbons. Tulo made the trip to Toronto. I don't know if Donaldson did but I have seen Tulo for sure. Seems odd to make the trip from Florida if he's still rehabbing.

In all likelihood, if Morales is out, we'll see Pearce and Zeke starting fulltime with someone like Cecilliani on the bench (it's amazing I don't even have to mention Smoak has he's already somehow a fulltime player). The reality is the season's down the tubes and as such, I'd rather Smith Jr. play LF regularly and Leblebijian play 3rd until JD is back.

What he "deserves" is irrelevant. He's on the 40 and can fulfill a bench role for a few games until someone gets activated from the DL. It's not like you're going to get a whole lot of useful intel on Smith by calling him up either. Adding him to the 40 is a pointless hassle.

Tonight will be fun. Carapazza behind the plate and the lineup looks even worse than last night.

I took me an absurdly long time to figure out that you were talking about an umpire and not coming up with some bizzare nickname for Maille.

Well if anyone needs me, I'll be on the Red Sox forum. Jays can eat my ass with a spoon!

Nasty.

Looks like we're going to miss Dickey in the up coming braves home and away series. I don't know about you guys but I would have paid good money to see the Jays tee off on him.

But in reality he would throw 8 innings of 2 hit ball against our lineup lol

Are there any updates on Tulo and JD and when they might be coming back? I haven't seen anything since Wilner chirped they would back this home stand awhile ago.

Tulo is playing rehab games this weekend. Atleast that's the plan. Best case scenario we get him back for the road portion of the 4 game split series vs Atlanta.

Donaldson is still a couple weeks away but doesn't have a time table for rehab games. Best case scenario we get him back end of May.

Yeah the injury page on mlb.com still says "possibly week of May 15th" for Donaldson, but seems the following week (maybe the last weekend of May) is best case scenario.

This may be wishful thinking but I wonder if with these older players being out on the DL early in the season will be beneficial later on in Aug/Sept. with less accumulated 'wear and tear' that comes from playing regularly over a long season. If the team can keep inching forward in their absence, maybe they could still make a second half push?

The Jays are up to a 22.3% chance of making the playoffs. This is 7th best in the A.L. now. This season is far from over.

Also, according to Fangraphs the National League might as well stop playing regular season games. The playoff race is basically over.

Over for who? The Central might be interesting with a strong Cards team and the Cubs house of cards wavering a bit. I expect the Dodgers to overtake the Rockies in the West, but the Rox could still make some noise in the WC. Who knows what the Mets will do?
