but Pedro Alvarez isn't a first baseman...

He was in 2015 and one of the main reasons he wasn't in 2016 was Chris Davis playing 1B every day.

More importantly, Pedro Alvarez would be a nominal upgrade over Smoak. Either we'd have to get rid of Smoak, making Pedro cost Smoak's $4m plus whatever salary he'd accept, or move Pearce to the outfield (where he isn't as good) and then have a terrible 1B tandem of Smoak and Pedro.

Not worth it IMO.

Unless we're talking about a minor league deal of course - in which case go for it, minor league deals have no drawbacks in my eyes.

"The Jays’ off-season signings again were economically prudent, but Jose Bautista is 36, Kendrys Morales and J.P. Howell 33, Joe Smith 32. Meanwhile, first baseman Justin Smoak occupies a spot that could go to a better bat (Pedro Alvarez?) and the bullpen could fall under immediate scrutiny if Howell and/or Smith do not throw well in the spring."

That was Rosenthal's quote. I don't think that's suggesting the Jays are after a 1B.

Jesus Ken - you could say that about every bullpen in baseball. If a couple of the bullpen pieces don't throw well - the bullpen will suck. Thanks for all the hard work there bud.

So Hazel Mae is the sideline reporter.

Arash Madani is apparently going to be there as well which I think is horrible. I find him so annoying.

Hazel Mae is okay. I actually came to appreciate Davis toward the end. Not so much because he did a good job but seeing the annoyed players interact with him made it worth watching. With Hazel Mae it will just be the typical boring and bland stuff. I don't know anything about Arash Madani.

He is absolutely terrible. If the players didn't connect with Davis, Madani can only be worse. He's about the last reporter I would pick to chat daily with professional athletes. I see him more suited for reporting on gardening or home decorating.

He makes every single word out of his mouth sound so dramatic. Seems like a dickhole off camera too.

Arash is sweaty and gross. Must be awkward interviewing players when he's sweating more than they are.

People say that a Napoleon Complex isn't a real thing and then you read something from Marcus Stroman.

The Biagini hug snuff before he interviewed him would seem to confirm your dick hole assessment.

I do.

Lots of people do or they wouldn't have them.

Well that explains who their audience is then...No wonder I can't stand watching them.
