I wouldn't mind signing JD but I would want that opt out clause in there after 2-3 years. Even if he ends up producing like an MVP for the next 3 years I'd want him to opt out.

That's dumb. If he was an MVP for the next 3 years his remaining worth would be higher than his contract value.

My girlfriend and I were discussing the other day which of the team's recent playoff series wins is/was the most satisfying as we enter 2017.

The 2015 ALDS has obviously become iconic as a cheesy Hollywood script turned into real life. Huge postseason drought ends, team limps out of the gate and gets their backs pressed against the wall in Games 1 and 2, recovers against impressive odds through Games 3 and 4, and caps it off with a win in Game 5 in perhaps the most memorable, oddball, and cathartic inning anyone will ever witness. Bautista immortalizes himself in Toronto sports history at the expense of the Texas Rangers' dignity.

The 2016 WC game involved going up against a bitter rival that arguably lucked their way into the postseason. With the better team on paper, the Blue Jays needed to eliminate Baltimore to even justify the season -- especially considering the Blue Jays needed to force this game over the season's final weekend due to poor play through September. Game ends because of a legendary poor decision by an overrated manager and Edwin putting himself right next to Bautista in Toronto sports lore by ripping the Orioles' hearts out.

The 2016 ALDS was a rematch against the incredibly salty Texas team from the 2015 ALDS. A running rivalry through the season capped off with huge brawl and suspensions across the board. Certain Rangers players and their fans reveled in Odor punching Bautista on the field, treating it like schoolyard payback for last year's failures. Outside of the obvious bad blood (which both teams controlled), the ALDS itself was relatively drama-free. Both Ranger aces got their asses shown to them in Games 1 and 2 and Texas put the screws to the Jays' ace in Game 3 (while still watching their own mediocre starter get trashed). Desperate reporters and on-edge fans speculated about a similar table-turning as 2015's series, but this time in Texas's favour. Unfortunately for the Rangers' dignity, a surprisingly tight Game 3 ended in yet another Blue Jays triumph via a throwing error by folk hero Rougned Odor. At this point, no retaliation in 2017 will ever look like anything but the sourest of grapes from a franchise trying to take the crown of being perennial choke artists and f*** ups from the 1990s and 2000s Atlanta Braves.

The 2015 ALDS was wild. That 7th inning took an hour and I thought we were going to lose the season because of the Choo/Martin play. When Bautista hit that homer it was the most excited I had been since 1993. It was more exciting than satisfying though, even though it's my favorite.

The 2016 WC was more of a relief. The one and done setup is nerve-wracking. When they won I was relieved.

2016 ALDS was the most satisfying. Odor is a douche and to win the series by sweeping them with him making the error is a really satisfying win. We were up 2 games to nothing so it wasn't do or die like the other two but the circumstances made it the most satisfying.

I believe you just spoke for everyone!

I loved both years of back to back ALCS but I prefer 2015 as I was at all the playoff games and on paper the Jays honestly should have beat the Royals hands down, we got unlucky in that series and I honestly think the Jays would have kicked the Mets asses in the World Series so 2015 playoffs for me.

Agreed! I was going to say the same thing.

Yeah that one actually sounds the coolest/most clever

Though I'll bet the jersey Rogers gives away is pretty sweet

Whoa....they might regret that one if there's a blown call or unusual ruling against the Jays!

What do the replica jersey's look like? Are they s***? At face value, those seem like the premier giveaways.

They'll probably be a cross between a replica jersey and a shirsey and will have an ad or two on them.

Yeah, no way they're as nice as the $200 Jays shop ones... right???

Good thing the game isn't against Texas LMAO

The replica beer can giveaway at the stadium is going to be brutal.

Here's some info/pics of the one they gave away in 2015:

Meh - that's not too bad. They look paper thin and really cheap, but at least they aren't plastered with Rogers or Honda logos. Unfortunately, they don't look good enough to proudly wear to future games and thus are a dud IMO. Why can't they just get a bunch of the Chinese jersey you can get off the internet for $40 and double check they spell everything correct and such.

Like the Rockies did?

replica jersey quality is utter junk. I remember getting 3 of them for the Mother's Day in 2015. It was supposed to be Lawrie but it ended up being Donaldson.

If I recall the fabric wasn't even cotton. The texture is very similar to fabric softener.

Anyway - from a distance it doesn't look all that bad but up close it wouldn't look good.

ughhh....you'd think they'd realise just giving out the standard shirseys would be a better idea??? Maybe they realise the vast majority of the public won't realise how s***** the replica jerseys are and will target those games to ensure they get them anyway (even if they are disappointed afterwards).

I hate marketing.

Most people don't really care. My girlfriend got a Rockies one (not the infamous Tulo one) and likes it enough to wear to their games.

Well she clearly has low standards then Term. Perhaps to your benefit.

Yeah I'd imagine those would be nice as well.

Twirling those every time JD is up would be sick!
