Haha, true.

Apart from fans and the media, imagine the reaction from the players with him joining a MLB clubhouse where half the players have young kids.

At the end of the day, how good of a player he is will ultimately determine whether or not he plays in the MLB. If he's a stud no doubt some team will roster him.

Who the hell is calling that game, Forest Whitaker?

Dammit, that is a better eye joke.

Alright, time to get ready for a weekend long ball tourney. The diamond we are playing at has 270ft outfield fences, so I expect to be slugging over 1000 by Sunday.

Eating Subway all the time requires a lot less effort than playing baseball as far as full time jobs go. I'd actually argue that eating Subway was a catalyst to Jared's crime since I can't imagine ever feeling satisfied after eating one of their s***** sandwiches.

This is true. After all, Subway uses soy and little boy semen to fill out their "chicken" (fact).

So fangraphs redesigned their home page, and in a classic case of fixing what's not broken, they made it look way worse.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure fantrax started changing their site a while ago and have slowly been implementing them.

That should help Scranton Wilkes-Barre immensely

lol

I actually have a wager with someone saying that Bird will have more minor league PA's than major league, and he better do it cause I don't want to wear that Yankees onesie to a game next year.

Ump in this afternoon game is just the straight up STAR of the show.

That's what they get for hiring one-eyed ups.

Where was this kid supposed to go in the draft? Seems un-Cubs like to take him off their draft board if he's a top talent that might fall because of this.

after going to that talk with the Director of Mental Skills, it would seem that it's very Cub to not draft him. They actually have the Mental Skills team very involved in the draft and interview 100's of players. It didn't seem right to me but they really do view "fit" highly at all levels.

I hate the mobile version. Just a bunch of scrolling and if you want to look up something you have to scroll all the way back up. I usually request desktop mode for most mobile sites anyway.

Former Blue Jays farmhand Ryan Schimpf optioned to AAA El Paso.... even with 14 HRs, a 35% K rate/PA(well over 40% of his ABs) apparently equals a trip to the minors.. of course, San Diego is a tire fire..

He has a .145 BABIP and is still rocking a 90 wRC+. I don't get it, he's an extreme hitter but he proved last year that he could be very useful. Dumb move.

Well I know he's valuable but with the Padres sucking this year it might not be too bad to send him back down to make some adjustments. But he'll come back up very soon I think.

He's basically been the same hitter as last year. Don't really see what adjustments they'll want him to make unless they completely change his profile.

My first reaction was that no way in hell should any team even think about drafting him. But after giving it more thought I'm starting to back up a little bit. They'd have to interview him extensively, and if the team feels the rehabilitation program did help him, give him a shot. If this went down just the past couple of years I'd be more hesitant, but he was still a kid at the time so his brain wasn't done growing and the rehab might have helped him. He'll be under the microscope while playing baseball, which might be the best place for him actually.

Even if he doesn't get drafted and some team signs him as an undated FA... can you imagine the locker room aura with him around? Any player with kids would never ... ever give him the time of day. Talent or not the poison his situation could control in the locker room would be incredibly difficult to manage.

Let alone the public backlash... bring your kids to the ballpark! Child molester pitching tonight!

I agree. I think the guy should not be able to work in any capacity so that it's more likely he relapses or commits other crimes so we can prove that rehab doesn't work.

Or receive a $300,000 scholarship

His competition is Chris Carter...are you going senile?

I thought the old Fangraphs look sucked. Unfortunately, I don't see this one as an improvement. That colour scheme is so drab and stale. I was hoping for a more significant change. Still better than Baseball Prospectus but that's damning with faint praise.

So you commit a crime, and go to jail. You get out of jail (jail being your supposed complete punishment for said crime) and then are ostracized by society and literally no one will hire you. Are you really surprised so many become repeat offenders? I think what he did was bad but let's not equate it with something like rape or torture.

I assume there are countries that provide significantly more programs to rehabilitate criminals. Do the stats indicate there is a significant difference in the % of repeat offenders?

Even if it's true, it's hard to fathom pouring tax dollars into programs to try and fix these massive shitbags...many of which can't and won't be fixed....they'll simply go molest another helpless child.

IMO they deserve the same penalties as murders do. Molesting a child can seriously ruin their lives.

That's the thing, locker room stuff would/should be a nightmare for him. I know i wouldn't associate with the guy

But then you also have guys "running the train"... According to dirk hayherst. Which i feel is just as bad.

Wat? Having an orgy with a consenting adult is the same as molesting a child? That's like saying shop lifting is the same as the 9-11 bombings.

And when was Dirk talking about orgy's on the air? That's awesome.

In his book, not on air. Sounds like it might have not always been consensual..

In the darkness of the room, the player excuses himself and is replaced by another teammate presumably without the woman's knowledge.
