Basically just handed the Red Sox a win Pretty much.. while the Jays bullpen puts up zeroes a lot with Barnes/Tepera/Leone/Loup/Smith/Osuna, Rangers still can't their bullpen straightened out.. and this team won 10 in a row? Of course, beating garbage teams like San Diego, Oakland and Detroit help(two of the teams the Jays haven't seen yet).. this is the real Rangers team, bad bullpen and all..
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Dyson was a tad bit salty in his post game interview, can't say I'd be any different though.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Rangers pen is about to gift a sweep to the Red Sox and save Farrell's job for another week.. and 16Ks for Rangers hitters so far. Lineup's a mess without Carlos Gomez..
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Brad Hand is a closer now. May as well. They will do whatever they can to raise his trade value. Koda Glover is the Nats new closer. Who knows how long.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 2... 4 inning saves tonight, with the starter going 5 for the W. Wonder when the last time that's happened, never mind two on the same night, crazy! Kenta Maeda/Hyun-Jin Ryu for the Dodgers, and Eddie Butler/Mike Montgomery for the Cubs... so , notice this was done by heavy analytic teams?

Kenta Maeda/Hyun-Jin Ryu for the Dodgers, and Eddie Butler/Mike Montgomery for the Cubs... so , notice this was done by heavy analytic teams? WTF is a 4 inning save? Doesn't this happen every time a starter goes 5 and a couple bullpen arms hold on for the win?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 WTF is a 4 inning save? Doesn't this happen every time a starter goes 5 and a couple bullpen arms hold on for the win? No, because the relievers in between get holds instead of saves. Only the last pitcher to enter the game in a save situation is the one who gets credited with a save. A 4 inning save just means a pitcher entered a game in a save situation, e.g. let's say he enters in a 1-run game in the 6th inning, gets through the inning, and then continues pitching for the duration of the game.

It could be a 10 run lead and you still get the save... anything at 3 innings or more, but you're right, regardless.

Lineup's a mess without Carlos Gomez.. I actually looked up C.Gomez's stats after this reference. I think - wow, he must be carrying over the success he had when he went to Texas last year. Nope. wRC+ of like 102. How on earth is their lineup a "mess" without him?
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Passan just wrote and article about how the Yankees will be in a position to afford Harper and Machado in 2018. So that was a fun read
bzapple Verified Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 So, Astros utility man Marwin Gonzalez, who has barely slugged .400 in his career, hit his 11th home run last night (last year he had 13 in 518 PAs) and now has a SLG of .627. Another obscure player suddenly developing home run pop.

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2017 Posted May 26, 2017 Aaron Altherr is another. Altherr had that in his profile though, Marwin not so much... I doubt he sustains this power.

The worst part is that these troglodytes endanger the people around them. He collides with the older man in front of him and could have easily catapulted him off the edge. Thankfully the guy had the wherewithal to grab hold of a seat as the idiot fell into him.
