As Mike Trout's BABIP has fallen down to career norms, his wRC+ has stayed the same. 3.1 WAR, Jesus.

Also Kenley Jansen has officially entered god mode. 32 strikeouts and no walks in 17 innings. His FIP is 0.04.

222 wRC+ and closing in on 200 PA. His PD stats are showing improved command of the strikezone, which happens a lot at his age. He might have gotten better offensively.

Gose had his debut as a pitcher today. Allowed one run on one hit with one K and one BB, apparently touching 99mph with his fastball.

Jairo Beras touching 100 mph

Jairo Beras touching 100 mph

He hasn't converted to a pitcher, has he? Oh s***, he has... Beras, 22, could permanently move from outfield to pitcher after impressing in his debut on the mound for High-A Down East on Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. (5/17/2017)

Makes sense.

Turns out the electrifying pitching debut of prospect Jairo Beras wasn't just a case of a position player mopping up in a rout.

The Rangers have been considering moving the one-time mega prospect to the mound for some time. And his 1-2-3 inning for Class A Down East (N.C.) Tuesday, in which he hit 100 mph on some radar guns and 98 on others, may accelerate those conversations.

"We've talked about him pitching in the past, but had put it off to let him get more at-bats and a chance to hit," general manager Jon Daniels said Wednesday. "It's been an active discussion for a while now. When the Kinston staff was going to need a position player to throw, they took the opportunity to get a look at Jairo in that role. What was impressive more than the velo itself was how easily he got to it, and with literally zero coaching to this point. We're going to have further discussion about it now."

How important is that thing between the ears when pitching?

Lefty throwing upper 90's. He shows any command he's in the big leagues.

Probably less important than playing CF...hard to say. As long as he doesn't shake off the catcher he can have the majority of decisions made for him

Maybe, although it could be argued that the pitcher is more involved in the defensive end of things than the CF

I would take the velocity with a grain of salt until a few others confirm it. He's also going to need command of a plus breaking pitch to have any sustainable success.

Conforto hit 2HR today. As did Edwin and Charlie Blackmon who now leads the NL in RBI's despite batting leadoff.

Schwarber crushed a 470 foot dinger tonight, apparently the first hit onto the street since they remodeled the outfield bleachers at Wrigley.

Orioles get swept by an upstart Twins team. Baltimore's lost 10 of their last 13, and their season is headed off the rails.. and with the Astros, Yankees and Red Sox on the docket, Baltimore's lead in the wild card could basically disappear in the next week or two, allowing other teams including the Jays to catch up (we're 5 out if they win vs. Milwaukee, as they are headed towards.)

Not shocking either--bullpen really needs Britton back, plus the starting pitching is trash! And Wade Miley is a huge regression candidate--2.59 ERA with a 4.41 FIP and 1.438 WHIP--he's going to fall hard soon. With Tillman being lousy, and the only good arm being Bundy (and he's regressing as well--4.22 ERA in May), along with Machado still not hitting (he's actually worse in May than in April--no rebound like Travis or Bautista). As a result, the O's are rapidly sliding.. how does Duquette and Showalter plan to fix this?
