Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 It is truly amazing that anyone buys tickets to their games. Perhaps this is God's way of evening out the fact they live in probably the best city, with the best weather in the US. Bastards can't have it all. To bring up a week old topic, San Diego has to be the city with the worst North American pro sports history. The Padres are the worst MLB team of all time and suck now. The Chargers mostly sucked and the city lost them. The Clippers really sucked and they lost them too. Can't think of a city with a more s***** history than that. Vancouver comes pretty close. So does Seattle, Washington and pre-Lebron 2.0/Francona era Cleveland. Unfortunately Toronto would be pretty high up on that list as well. Kind of like Washington and Cleveland...s***** for a long, long time but it's gotten better the last couple of years.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 RIP Don Baylor and Darren Daulton. Dutch was the heart and soul of the 93 Phillies team. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/20269993/darren-daulton-former-philadelphia-phillies-catcher-dies-55
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Darren Daulton's 92 season was a gem. 7.2 WAR. Looks like a nice solid steroid-fueled year as much as any I've seen as well. lol
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Happy Birthday Mike Trout! Happy Mike Trout hits a dinger on his birthday day!
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Carlos Martinez looks like a damn fool.

keggy Verified Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 How do you know AA was the one who suggested him? The Dodgers front office is incredibly smart. I can't imagine a scenario in which the FO goes after Morrow without AA directly or at least getting an okay from him beforehand.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 And he does it again, lol. Trout has homered on his birthday 4 out of his 6 years in the majors so far LOL

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 I'm soooo cheering for the Dodgers this post season That team will be super fun to watch D'Backs are a team that I'm watching out for in the NL. Love their pitching staff of Greinke, Ray, Godley in a short series. Only thing that scares the crap out of me regarding the D'Backs is their bullpen. Can't believe Fernando Rodney is still their closer. If the D'Backs get by the Rockies in the Wildcard game, they won't be an easy first round opponent for the Dodgers.

A guy I am SERIOUSLY hoping wins a much deserved MVP award if he keeps this up

It should be an exciting race in the final 8 weeks or so.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Goldy, Lamb, Martinez, Pollock, Peralta...More than just one guy haha. Dodgers have *5* guys with a wRC+ over 140 D'Backs have 1
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Lamb and Martinez are legit bats. TBH I forgot they got Martinez The lineup is allright But the Dodgers lineup is nuts

It should be an exciting race in the final 8 weeks or so. At this point, Seager probably has a better shot at MVP than Turner. Turner has been spectacular, don't get me wrong, but he won't have the counting stats needed to contend. It is nice to see Puig right the ship. No idea what's wrong his base running this year though.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Dodgers have *5* guys with a wRC+ over 140 D'Backs have 1 And that doesn't mean anything in a short 5 game series. Bats could go cold easily. I like the arms the D'Backs could throw out in a short series, which is all I really said. Dodgers on paper are a much better team overall yes, though the D'Backs won't be an easy walkover in the NLDS.

Obviously I think the Dodgers are better overall (also Kershaw/Darvish/Wood - yikes!!!) But you're right in that the D'Backs are no joke.

Maahfaace Verified Member Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 http://www.tsn.ca/report-umpire-west-suspended-three-games-1.825410 There is no way that's the sole reason Joe West was suspended, it doesn't even read as insulting. He's been s*** at his job for years, that should be the real justification. I wonder why it took a month and a half after the article was published for the MLB to the lay the hammer down on him?

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 CC Sabathia said that his knee hasn't felt this bad since he started wearing the brace. Can't land properly. Wasn't one specific pitch.
