Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 UZR/150 after 240 PA's is pretty worthless. I'm sure it's just noise. There's just something so wrong about judging the statistical relevance of a defensive metric number by the number of plate appearances.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Jaime Garcia close to being traded to the Twins. He'd be a good measuring stick to see what we could get for someone like Estrada. So the deal is on the verge of collapsing but it was for Nick Burdi, a prospect projected to be a reliever, who is out for the rest of the year after Tommy John, and wasn't in the top ten prospects for the Twins. Yeah, we're getting basically nothing for Estrada or Liriano.

Ray Verified Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Orioles' Duquette says team in market for pitching, won't give up on season If you had the Baltimore Orioles labeled as sellers, think again. Executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations Dan Duquette refuted rumors that the Orioles would look to trade away members of its core and, instead, said the team is focused on adding pitchers before the trade deadline. "Day in, day out we have to compete against the toughest teams in the league. This year we haven't had the starting pitching that we need, but the other elements of our ball club are intact," Duquette said, according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com. "And if we can get a little bit better pitching or add to the pitching we can make a run at this ... whatever we do (at the trade deadline) we are going to try to help the club. I still like a lot of our core players. I don't believe all of this stuff that says we have half the club on the market because we have a lot of baseball left to be played." Duquette's comments come after it was recently reported that club owner Peter Angelos granted Duquette, who oversees baseball operations, permission to trade away the team's top relievers, as well as outfielder Seth Smith. Entering Saturday, Orioles starters have posted the league's most walks per nine innings (4.04), second worst ERA (5.93) and third lowest WAR (2.0). The club currently sits four games under .500 and has a run differential of minus-72, the third lowest among American League teams. burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Thank god the the idiots at Rogers didn't end up hiring the guy. The Franchise would be doomed.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Welp... Kershaw left injured. *Lower right back stiffness*
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Blue Jays acquire Nick Tepesch. The season is saved!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Wow... Strasburg left after the 2nd due to injury also.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Was a pipe dream thinking he would be the return in a Donaldson deal.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Was a pipe dream thinking he would be the return in a Donaldson deal. No way. It's Dombrowski. He's showcasing Devers in preparation of a Sonny Gray deal.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 No way. It's Dombrowski. He's showcasing Devers in preparation of a Sonny Gray deal. Seriously. Dombrowski is AA on steroids when it comes to trading prospects. And the ones he does keep he will promote straight from A-ball Double-A because why the f*** not?
Ray Verified Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Sets the price on a guy like Estrada. #22 prospect in the Twins system.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Such a Twins move but obviously an IFA that hasn't progressed much. Still 19 with a big arm. Twins don't like guys who throw 90+ though.

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Altuve with a second straight 4 hit game, brings his slash line up to .365/.431/.574 on the year
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Altuve now leads all offensive players with 5.5 WAR and Houston has 3 of the top 9 offensive players in baseball. That's awesome. I love s*** like this.
Ray Verified Member Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 The thing I always loved about baseball is that any one no matter size or weight can be successful at it if they put in the work. Being 6'6 doesn't automatically mean you're a good player and being 5'6 doesn't mean you're automatically a write off like in a lot of professional sports. Nice to see guys like Altuve, Stroman, and Betts dominate the game.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Lots of hit batters in this White Sox vs Cubs game... Both sides warned
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Rodon now has 8 k's through 3 innings. He has given up 4 runs though. So many beanballs in this game.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Atkins f***ed up by promoting Alford too early. He had to be put on the 40 man anyway I think (or maybe he was already). Probably not a big deal.
