This is a smart calculated risk by the Tigers, but Gose doesn't have the makeup to succeed at any role in the majors, and he's at an age where we can't expect him to grow out of it anymore.

I suspect he'll wear out his welcome as a pitcher by the end of the year.

Jonn stated he thinks odor is a one trick pony, I tend to agree, and isn't worth this kind of extension so early in his career. Unless, you were saying "wrong" with reference to the 2nd part of his statement. It was 5am Saturday night and completely understandable if you was shittered.

You might want to read what John posted again.

I understand the confusion as I was shittered, lol. Yet, I think this was a good signing for both sides. I hardly think that Odor is useless.(as Jonn stated) He's an above average 2nd baseman at a cheap salary, nothing wrong with buying out his arb years now. I don't see it backfiring, at all.

Colabello hit .343 with 2HR, 5 RBI and an OPS of 1.039

He was a longshot. With Edwin and Carlos Santana on the team, a third 1B/DH guy on the roster made no sense. He would have needed an injury.

Very interesting article.....not that I have enough focus to read the whole thing...but the start was interesting.

The most interesting thing I found from the article was that a car salesman said no to a guy who wanted 10 cars right away.

Appears the car salesman was the first person to actually say no to the kid...

It's interesting that he was mature enough to decided he wanted to legally defect from Cuba....yet immediately asks for 10 pimped out cars as soon as he arrives...

Is there anything douchier than a young kid in a pimped out ride? Hey look at me! I need attention because I'm insecure and want people to think I'm cool.

He sounds exactly like the type of guy who gets plastered and zips around at 3am on the highway in his GTR.

It's easy to criticize but I think we too easily forget where these guys come from. It's exceedingly common that poor people who win the lottery go broke almost immediately. He needs someone taking control of his money until he can better acclimate with the culture and his own success.

One barely has to wonder why 2 teams, so far, have pushed the button to trade him, and a 3rd has released him.

Instead of being 'me' as he describes it, maybe he should try to be someone others want to be on the same team as.

Because he's Brett Lawrie

He also sounds exactly like the type of guy who gets plastered and zips around at 3am on the highway in his GTR. Can I criticize him because he's Canadian?

He needs to work with a swing coach to eliminate his hitch and start getting the ball in the air more. That should be his #1 priority in life right now.

He's incredibly wealthy already. His number 1 priority in life should be himself and his family.

Brett should spend his free time in the cage tbh

He literally says in the video that he recorded this AFTER he was done his workouts no doubt as a pre-emptive answer to those who s*** on any athlete who posts themselves having (gasp) non work related fun on the Internet. I really regret posting the video. I should have guessed it would trigger a bunch of smug indignation (not a dig at you specifically).

Forgive those who of us who criticize athletes with all the god given talent in the world to play the sports we love at the highest level - yet can't focus/adjust/mature enough to recognize their opportunities. I think its natural to have a little jealousy. One might argue that Brett's always prioritized himself, which may explain why he is currently unemployed.

In fairness to him, the first team to trade him off its MLB roster did so because the trading partner had Donaldson on the table.

You're making a lot of assumptions. Players with talent + great personalities fail all the time.

Brett Lawrie is a douche but his failures at the MLB level might not have anything to do with his focus or passion. IMO he has just been weirdly indoctrinated by traditional baseball coaching that has morphed him into a skinny ground ball slapper and not the beefy slugger he should have been.
