Why not build the system, get younger pitchers wanting to represent Canada. Most of the pitchers who have been representing Canada and will likely be back are in their 30's anyway (Henderson, Albers, Axford, Hill, LeRoux, Magnusson, Mathieson, Molleken). Canada has 87 players in the minors and that doesn't include those in the majors and the guys who have Canadian eligibility. List of pitchers I'd ask before them (not saying that they haven't talked to these players):

 

Cal Quantrill

Ryan Kellogg

Taillon (i assume he's a lock if he wants to play)

Rob Zastryzny (he should be a lock)

Colin Kleven (he's put in National team time before)

Even Grills

Jered Mortensen

Shane Dawson

I'm actually interested in seeing Martin play shortstop. I remember him playing 2nd in an emergency last season and I'd like to see how he does at shortstop. Not that I want him to play there during the season but I think if there is any catcher in the league that could play it at least decently it would be him.

I personally don't mind it. It's not really for us it's just to garner interest in baseballl. Pretty sure intially cause baseball was taken out of the Olypmics.
