burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Saunders had his removed So have other athletes. Blake Griffin is doing fine in the NBA after getting his removed in college.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 A good Bautista friend Three years for about $ 50 million is what is believed to be agreed by José Bautista and the Toronto Blue Jays
puphood Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Did you not see him move last year and by the way that was 2 years into the injury. That is as good as it gets.....

Key22 Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 The problem with Saunders is that he completely fails the eye test - he was looking like Colabello out there at the end of the season and his year end hitting was utterly atrocious. Sure maybe you take a flyer on him for 1 year $3 million or something but where do you put him? His second half numbers (last 58 games) .178 /.282/.357 -1.7dWAR There are a lot of corner outfielders out there
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 A good Bautista friend Three years for about $ 50 million is what is believed to be agreed by José Bautista and the Toronto Blue Jays Really? Interesting if true
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I want to see Jose's reaction when he's asked if he took a home town discount.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Posted purely for the 12 year old pic of him in an Orioles uniform Hope he wrecks them this year
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Not sure if I believe but interesting they would give him 3 years at that price after virtually putting him on the back burner for 2 months. I have said this many times I would like to have Bautista back. But he needs to be transitioned to First Base to keep him healthy and help our defence.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Because he's still good? Lot of guys have torn their meniscus's, doesn't mean their knee is going to fall off. Considering he's not Blake Griffin. Never stayed healthy before the injury, and was horrendous in the second half. I don't like the comparable.
SweetSmellingChacin Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I've said it all offseason, JB will be one of the bargains of the offseason. Would anyone really be surprised if he out produced Edwin next year? Even in an injury plagued down year last year, he still put up good offensive numbers and he's only 1 year removed from a great season. On a short term deal, he's good value. He can split time between DH/1B/OF.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 If this is confirmed, then hopefully it means bye bye Smoak. Morales, Bautista and Pearce rotating at 1B, DH, OF, with Pearce mainly 1B, Morales mainly DH and Jose mainly OF.
intrigid Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 How would they get rid of Smoak?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 A 3 year deal is too long IMO, but maybe there are opt/buy outs (he may want one after year 1, we'd want one after year 2)
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 How would they get rid of Smoak? Find a team who wants a warm body for 1B and will pay at least some of his salary. Otherwise simply send him down to AAA, which he would probably refuse, and then release him. Worst case of $4m wasted a year for 2 seasons is frustrating but isn't crippling. The waste of a spot on the 25 man squad is more important IMO.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I just want him back, our outfield is a mess.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Please please let this go through
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 3-years, $50M is a steal. I'd love to have him back at that price. But then we need to man up and give Fowler $18M AAV for 4-5 years and sign him. Jiminez can be our backup catcher for peanuts. Then we'd just have to work our tails off to find, trade warm bodies for the 'pen. We have three stoppers, but two lefties (with the prayer that Loup can keep his splits down a bit) would be amazing. JB can DH some, LF some, RF some, 1B some. It'd work. And creates a little flexibility for when injuries strike. I can't but think Rogers doesn't want the appearance of two of it franchise faces leaving in the same year.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Unless Bautista's good friend is trying to drive up his price, I'm pretty skeptical until I see the baseball media vultures start whispering about it. They didn't even touch that completely fabricated 5/115M Edwin-Houston rumour from last week that people were fighting over.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I just want him back, our outfield is a mess. You seem too sentimental.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Will have to see it to believe. Not buying it until Kenny Ken or Heyman or another reliable source mentions it. But yeah, three years is too long. Would rather have Fowler for four than Bats for three. A two year deal would be better.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I was kind of hoping we'd start to change the identity of the team.

Looking back, same thing with Russell Martin. It usually takes an extra year to secure the free agent. The AAV would be a-okay with me.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Where is this being reported? 3/50 would be amazing, but i can't find anything on the webz about it.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I was kind of hoping we'd start to change the identity of the team. Why? Back to back ALCS appearances. Packed dome. Lots of headline makers. It's been the best two years of Blue Jays baseball in over 20 years.

Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 You seem too sentimental. Respectful is a better word. I also don't want to see Zeke or BJ on the major league roster, this should be accomplish able.

justafan Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Please don't sign JB. Let the team belong to Tulo and Donaldson.
