rydermike Verified Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 I know this is in the General Jays discussion, but I think it's deserving of its own thread: American League Catcher James McCann , Detroit Tigers (0) Carlos Perez , Los Angeles Angels (0) Salvador Perez , Kansas City Royals (3) First Base Chris Davis , Baltimore Orioles (0) Eric Hosmer , Royals (3) Mitch Moreland , Texas Rangers (0) Second Base Robinson Cano , Seattle Mariners (2) Ian Kinsler , Tigers (0) Dustin Pedroia , Boston Red Sox (4) Shortstop Jose Iglesias , Tigers (0) Francisco Lindor , Cleveland Indians (0) Andrelton Simmons , Angels (2) Third Base Adrian Beltre , Rangers (4) Manny Machado , Orioles (2) Kyle Seager , Mariners (1) Left Field Brett Gardner , New York Yankees (0) Alex Gordon , Royals (4) Colby Rasmus , Houston Astros (0) Center Field Jackie Bradley Jr., Red Sox (0) Kevin Kiermaier , Tampa Bay Rays (1) Kevin Pillar , Toronto Blue Jays (0) Right Field Mookie Betts , Red Sox (0) Adam Eaton , Chicago White Sox (0) George Springer , Astros (0) Pitcher R.A. Dickey , Blue Jays (1) Dallas Keuchel , Astros (2) Justin Verlander , Tigers (0)
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 My AL votes (cause they count) 1B - Moreland 2B - Pedroia (could go Kinsler, it's pretty equal...but I like to see Grant upset) SS - Lindor, again close enough that if they give it to Simmons I won't rant...Tulo really should have been the 3rd on the ballot though) 3B - Beltre...always Beltre. LF - Rasmus...half the innings which might hurt him CF - Pillar No Doubter RF - Betts. Can't go wrong with him or Eaton. P - Tanaka but he's not on the ticket. So Kuechel. C - Perez, always Sal Perez. They didn't seem to do too badly in the AL this year...but what a f***ing travesty that Colon won't win the NL.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Lol, Eric Hosmer will probably win another gold glove despite being a terrible first baseman.
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Why is dickey even in the discussion? Serious question..
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Lol, Eric Hosmer will probably win another gold glove despite being a terrible first baseman. -20 defensive value this year. The guy has no range at all. Edwin is a better defender.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 -20 defensive value this year. The guy has no range at all. Edwin is a better defender. Defense includes positional adjustment. -8.4 UZR, -6 DRS
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 What the f*** happened to Joey Votto's defense though? He rated as the worst defender BY FAR by DRS and was equally terrible by UZR/150.

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 (edited) He said he would retire if he was playing bad. Wouldn't be a bad idea. Would rather have him than Edwin next year. Worry about the money later. I think he would stick to what he said, would rather retire than embarrass himself Edited October 28, 2016 by Mittens87
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Really want Pillar to win
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Really want Pillar to win Prefer they just gave it to Kiermaier will only raise his arbitration prices if he wins. And maybe he comes back with a chip on his shoulder and hits a little bit as well!

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 Why is dickey even in the discussion? Serious question.. You could easily argue that he's the best fielding pitcher in the league and has been for a long time. The better question is why don't you think he deserves the award?

The better question is why don't you think he deserves the award? Casual fan, man. FIP busters continue to beat it by defense, trick pitches(knuckleball), and pinpoint control.(Beuhrle, Keuchel, etc...) RA9 is out there to measure these facts.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Why is dickey even in the discussion? Serious question.. Dickey is a great defender and is one of the game's best at holding base runners.

Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Gold glove won't matter. Not like there is a million dollar gg bonus
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Proof of this? Or do you just assume it raises his price irrationally? I think that awards may have an influence in arbitration. That's not a crazy thought.
