Adam Eaton would be an amazing pick up but would cost a lot.

 

Not for Stroman.

 

We shouldn't trade any starters.

 

If Eaton is available somehow without trading a starter I am all for it.

Is this all based simply on a Morosi brainstorm tweet? I don't follow the guy and I'm seeing updates on my Twitter saying the team is actually looking into these guys. Seems like everyone's just passing around yet another Morosi musing.

 

His name is Trollosi for a reason.

The Eaton rumours go back as far as this July 2016 MLBTR article but there's no real substance to it. It's all just speculation.

Trade 4 Ryan Braun anyone??

 

If we manage to avoid Jay Bruce (signing him seems depressingly inevitable at the moment) then this is the kind of trade we could pull off without losing significant assets.

 

If Pompey, salary relief and junk is enough I say go for it. If the Brewers are looking for more, I'm not so keen.

Well since he's not a free agent that seems like a pretty good bet for you. lol

 

Haha, it's obvious we're referring to the chance of the Jays trading for him, but I hope Grant is right and it doesn't happen.

I'm always surprised to see that stats show Braun as a negative defender.

 

Really? Braun has always been a poor defender, it's why he got moved off 3B almost immediately.

I'm not even sure you could call him one. He made 26 errors in 112 games and was all-around one of the worst defenders to ever play an extended stretch at the position.

Combine that with him leading the league in slugging percentage as a rookie and it was awfully entertaining.

Yep, a 155 wRC+ as a rookie is bloody incredible (compare to Kris Bryant's 136). Of course, we can look back now and probably assume he was juicing pretty heavily.

Would Milwaukee give away Braun for Contract, or they would want assets in return. Make them take Smoak and give them Pompey.

 

His contract isn't terrible, it's probably just about right. There's probably $5-10M in surplus value if you assume 3 WAR next year followed by 0.5 WAR/year decline and ~$9M/WAR. They could get something like Alford+ for him IMO, if not from us then from somebody else.

Yeah I agree his contract actually isn't that bad. It's probably close to fair market value for him.
