fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Author Posted October 17, 2016 À propos of nothing... Kenny Lofton was a great and underrated player. Still a 3 WAR player at 40 years old in his last season but nobody wanted to pay him like a 3 Win player anymore and he retired. When I started watching baseball Kenny Lofton was already on another team, but I remember when the analysts would show his highlights then show this young rookie called Grady Sizemore... holy crap to bad he had injuries, but man that would have been crazy to go from Kenny Lofton for 10 years to Sizemore for 10 years
wamco Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 I'm not going to miss him when he leaves this offseason. Yes you will
wamco Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Agree 100 percent We live in a society that strives to be free of bias. Why should native Americans see a team name that is offensive to them. We would not call a team the N Word or the P word or the C word I'd love to see the Connecticut ****s cut into the sox fan base.
Kenny Lofton Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Ontario Superior Court judge to determine before game 3 of ALCS if Indians name and logo should be banned from broadcast and team uniforms: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/use-of-cleveland-indians-name-and-logo-challenged-in-ontario-court/article32392221/ Well I guess the point is moot. MLB isn't going to allow it this to happen. "Major League Baseball appreciates the concerns of those that find the name and logo of the Cleveland Indians to be offensive. We would welcome a thoughtful and inclusive dialogue to address these concerns outside the context of litigation. Given the demands for completing the League Championship Series in a timely manner, MLB will defend Cleveland's right to use their name that has been in existence for more than 100 years."
wamco Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Its raining.. plus foggy as hell, be very surprised if its open. Tomorrow and Wed it should be though! What is the open roof fetish around here?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 What is the open roof fetish around here? Its way better. The dome gets all gross and muggy inside when its closed. The wildcard game was 1000x better with the roof opened
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 If we don't win this game we deserve to lose the series. Enough excuses, just play smart baseball. Zeke, Goins, Saunders, I'm looking at you guys.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Update on Cleveland's pitching: If Trevor Bauer gets through tonight's game OK, the Indians will start Ryan Merritt in Game 4. If Bauer has to leave early because of his finger injury or ineffectiveness, Mike Clevinger and others will be available to back him up and the Indians will come back with Corey Kluber on short rest in Game 4. Then Merritt would pitch Game 5 Wednesday. Jerry Crasnick, ESPN Senior Writer
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 So ideally Bauer gets through 5 so that Kluber throws game 5 and the Jays don't have to face him three times.

I don't know, just win tonight and sort it out later. If Bauer gets though 5 he must be doing pretty well. Hopefully he doesn't get through 1.

Hopefully he doesn't get through 1. Well game 4 Kluber probably means game 7 Kluber. So ideally, Bauer pitches well enough to get through five innings so Merritt throws game 4. Yes as a player that shouldn't be the mind set, but as a fan these are the types of scenarios we can look ahead at.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 They will have to do some damage against Miller/Allen/Kluber at some point or see ya next year. Let's see them get to Bauer first though. Winning a tight game where the Indians use Miller and Allen would help. Same applies to tomorrow's game. Blowing out teams ain't gonna happen.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 We scored 17 runs against Cleveland July 3, I think 6 came against kluber, rest against bull pen members who are long gone. Saw a stat somewhere that Jay's hit like .285 or .290 on him this season
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 A four game winning streak starts with one...let's do this!

Saw a stat somewhere that Jay's hit like .285 or .290 on him this season We were pretty well spent trying to break the franchise consecutive win record the game before (14 in a row) but yeah that was an assbeating for sure. I don't think this stuff matters to be honest. In the postseason you play the game in front of you and don't worry about the previous games or the games tomorrow or the next day. Win today and move on. As fans it is fun to play with the numbers and compare the series and all of that, but in the postseason I don't even think fans can use numbers to frame a positive or negative outcome. Anything can happen at this stage.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 An eight game winning streak starts with one...let's do this! Fixed!
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 It's nice to say that when the numbers go against you. Kluber gave up a lot of base runners last start. If blue jays had hit .160 against kluber the numbers are comforting as a fan when you are desperate for a win. Just saying. Good luck Can't use a winning streak as an excuse for getting blown out lol

Yes as a player that shouldn't be the mind set, but as a fan these are the types of scenarios we can look ahead at. While you wouldn't want to face Kluber twice, him pitching on short rest gives us a slight advantage over him pitching on more rest for Game 5. I think choosing between two starts of a tired Kluber and one rested one is not as clear cut as it might seem. We just need Andrew Miller to stop getting into games.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Its way better. The dome gets all gross and muggy inside when its closed. The wildcard game was 1000x better with the roof opened 100% this. Plus the players like it more and we seem to play better with it open.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 100% this. Plus the players like it more and we seem to play better with it open. If we start hitting better with the roof closed then maybe they will open it for next year's playoffs.

canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Zero mistakes by Cleveland. Can you imagine if Salazar, Carrasco and Brantley were in the lineup? f***ing Miller is money... I hate to say it but I don't dislike anyone on their team.

Sometimes it's better when your hands are tied. Not having Bauer today worked in Indians favor
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Sometimes it's better when your hands are tied. Not having Bauer today worked in Indians favor Yeah I kind of felt that way too. Francona wasn't letting the Jays face anyone twice and I was getting worried that Stroman would stay too long.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 This is a different game if Gibby goes to Cecil to pitch against Kipnis at the top of the 6th having Liriano as the other lefty

Stevecool Verified Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 The jays had Cleveland at their weakest and still can't beat them.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Bauer is such an asshat. Too bad we couldn't crush him today...
