Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I was in Tokyo Shinjuku area during the last ALCS. A Japanese guy in the elevator saw me wearing my Blue Jays cap, and asked where I'm from. Then he said, Jays are in big trouble, after 0-2 loss to KC, They take baseball seriously in Japan, and TVs in the stores were showing the playoffs. Did you go to a game while there? It was the offseason when I went, but I did go to a Sumo tournament in Tokyo.

ComeTogether Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 winning at least one road game is obviously required. Taking game 1 will help add the pressure to Cleveland. At the minimum, split the first two games. Last ALCS, they weren't able to do that.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 How the F did Cleveland sweep the Red Sox With no Carrasco or Salazar It helped that Boston slumped just at the right time.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Red Sox end their season losing 2 to the Jays then 3 to the Indians Love it
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 we can thank Tex too. His walk off grand salami started the collapse
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Red Sox end their season losing 2 to the Jays then 3 to the Indians Love it All that implosion talk must have really been directed towards the Sox!
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Redsox are a streaky team, they peaked at the wrong time. Combined with, in the playoffs, you need really strong pitching and they were let down by their ace. If Price even wins that one game for them, they might go on to win the series. Their third starter was Bucholz.

LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 I'm lazy, tldr? Cleveland one of the worst teams in the league at squaring up fastballs, Jays staff best in the league at utilizing fastball/sinkers. Hard to hit home runs off jays pitchers because despite high exit velocity launch angles are low. In order for Cleveland to be successful against the fastball they'll have to hit lots of line drives and balls on the ground for base hits because they likely wont hit many home runs.

Coming in from Milwaukee, he really spelled disaster for this club with that ridiculous HR rate.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 WTB cheap Tues/Wednesday tickets :3 Couldn't they have waited until the winner of tonights game?? If LA wins both LA, and Toronto times will be sub-optimal. 4:00, and I am guessing 5:00ish LA time They could of done both at 6:00 local time
flafson Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Can't believe they put those horrible hours for the ALCS.
Vegasdogg Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 While I think my Indians have a pretty decent lineup 1-9, the pitching that was our strong point took a severe hit with Danny and Carlos going down. Those are our #2 and #3 starters, and with a soft throwing Tomlin needing to hit his spots or else, plus the bullpen possibly having to log more innings than I would like, I would say on paper the odds are in the Blue Jays favor. You're not a move the runners over, small ball kind of team. But you're big bats are hot right now. On paper I am worried. But the Indians haven't been an "on paper" team all season. They have a close knit group of players and managers, and they are all heart. I am just hoping for a good series from Cleveland and the possibility to play in the WS.
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Can this series start already.

Money money money Well TV networks are only in it for the money so obviously they will do what generates the most $. CBC is really the only network that will show things for the purity of sport and its funded by taxpayers.
