AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Tickets are pretty expensive on StubHub. Public sale for the ALCS goes on sale tomorrow, so hoping I can grab a pair for Game 1 & 2. Might even try for Game 6 & 7 since those games will be next Friday/Saturday and would definitely be able to go. Wait, the Indians don't sell in advance like the Jays do? I'm 95% going this weekend too, just need to work out the logistics. And whether I can sell my wife letting me go away for 2 nights so I can go to both.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Wait, Adam Lind's mom is a lesbian?

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 For what it's worth Jays 59/41 favs according to fangraphs
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 For what it's worth Jays 59/41 favs according to fangraphs Crazy since we squeaked into the playoffs. If they keep being patient at the plate and keep pitching down in the zone I like our chances a lot. It was nice to beat the Os, sweet to beat the Rangers but that loss against the Indians on the inside the park homerun needs retribution.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Anyone have trouble accessing their tickets on ticketmaster? Im trying to print mine and it keeps saying their is a delivery delay. "Ticket delivery will be delayed until October 11, 2016 to verify that orders have not exceeded the posted ticket limit. Please adhere to published ticket limits. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster in its discretion." I bought my 12 tickets for the flex pack sale, and then bought 2 more when they went on sale to the general public but I dont think that's a violation? If it is thats ridiculous

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 There are so many salty Lucroy memes today lolllll
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Was that really Lucroy's rationale? What kind of dummy doesn't jump at the opportunity to go to a potential playoff team? Instead he was a dick to his team just so he could get better odds? What a turkey. I'm glad he choked.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Why is it so hard for them to understand that Lucroy was just trying to leverage more money? He wanted an extension, or a void of his option so that he could be guaranteed more money. He had a great year this year, and if he has a bad year next then it could really hurt his earning potential. Totally understandable.

Nah, he wanted them to give him an extension given that they already had another major league catcher. They said they couldn't guarantee he will be catching for them next season so he didn't want to go there. So he was traded to a team that he couldn't veto.

He said he didn't accept the trade because Cleveland wouldn't guarantee him the starting job behind the plate next season due to the presence of Yan Gomes. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/jonathan-lucroy-explains-veto-of-indians-trade.html
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Was that really Lucroy's rationale? Probably just that Cleveland is a piece of s***, run-down city that he didn't want to make his home for the next 14 months. IMO, if you can negotiate a NTC, then it's your prerogative on how to use it, but I certainly find it funny when it blows up in a guy's face like it did here. Didn't Hamels also kibosh any potential trade to the Jays?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Jays also a betting fav

flafson Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hamels rejected trades to the Jays and Astros. That salty bastard probably feels sorry by now! Why would he feel sorry? He probably saves so much money on tax alone in Texas.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 That salty bastard probably feels sorry by now! Why would he feel sorry? He probably saves so much money on tax alone in Texas. Maybe. But I don't consider Hamels a 'paycheque' player. I think he just genuinely didn't want to come to Canada, because of it being another country.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 If you can negotiate a NTC, then it's your prerogative on how to use it. Sure but playing Notstrodamus about who will make it deeper into the playoffs would be a really dumb way to use it (though from what everyone's saying, it doesn't sound like that was actually the case).

I've always thought that despite what they have to say in the media, team success is probably like the 5th or 6th most important factor in deciding where to play: 1. salary 2. how much the city works for them and their family 3. tax impacts of living in that city 4. relationships they have with people employed by the team 5. odds of team success The fans like to assume that 5 is everything, and generally the players play along.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 if I were Lucroy I would've declined Cleveland too Why would I go to a team where I would be forced to be a back-up catcher the following year?

I would say it goes: Number 1 Number 2 Number 5 Number 3 Number 4 The Tax implications don't matter much, as all big time players have smart accountants that they can get around most of it. And I have yet to see a player cite relationships with the staff as a reason for staying.
