glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Even if you don't think Gibbons is responsible for this team's collapse, he is still a s*** manager. Why keep one around when you don't have to?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Pfft, I want in on stuff like this. Hah... it was totally out of the blue.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Sheeeit... what a bummer of a game, is it just me or were there a s*** ton of looking strikes in this game, it seemed to frustrate the hell out of me. Bringing out Stroman for the 4th time through was pretty dumn, do guys like Barnes and Cecil have the plague or something? Bring on the Bosox... Jays got this!
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 This one is on me, sorry everyone. Didn't win the $127K 50/50 either.

I'm slowly dying one game at a time Spank. It's not over by any means, but holy f*** this team stresses me out.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 (edited) Ah, fire the manager. The lazy mantra of the fan too stupid to understand the more complex aspects of the game. In the case of John Gibbons its not really a lazy mantra. Unfortunately even a stupid fan realizes it. Doubt Shapiro will put up with it past 2016 barring a miracle playoff run. Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 By far the worst game I have been to this season. This was #15 for me, and arguably the most important game of the year. It turned out to be the most boring game i've seen in a long time. Worst game i've attended since the Dickey playoff blowout. What a terrible showing tonight.

I don't die till we're done. I just read this thread, it's flippin' insane season's over/tear it down/who's our coach, etc, etc... Jesus Christ, the game was awful, but the season is not.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 The sad part is both games were winnable and Boston got swept by the Yankees. Not only did we forgo the chance to win the division but we also are put in a bad position where Boston are trying to chase home field advantage. Yanks won 4 in a row, I just hope they can hold off the O's, you still have the M's facing the A's and the Tigers facing the Braves, we have the toughest closing series

Doubt Shapiro will past 2016 barring a miracle playoff run. Micro-managing won't save this team bro. Swap him with John Maddon and keep the team how it is, they'll still be scoring low amounts of runs. You can blame a manager for failing to play percentages, failing to bring in correct pitchers for matchups or failing to platoon, etc. Gibbons only fault last 2 games is bringing in grilli and bumping our Cecil and even then that would have given us a tie, scoring 2 runs across 2 games isn't his fault. The players aren't showing up
admin Site Manager Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 You can't possibly be stupid enough to believe that. You don't think Gibbons will be gone if we don't make the playoffs? Or are you talking about saying it's a win win lol

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Im expecting apologies from Gibby, Shapito, and Atkins to fans if they don't make it to the postseason.. Today's game was absolutely brutal and I don't have confidence about how many games will we win against the Sox I'm expecting apologies from the mods of this board that you haven't been banned yet. I'm sure your parents are plenty apologetic that your dad's sperm met your mom ovaries during her ovaluation

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 The Blue Jays have good fans. The Mariners had under 20,000 for a game tonight in the last series of the year where they're only 2 games out of a playoff spot! And they have the longest current playoff drought going back to 2001. You'd think they would draw alot better when they're playing meaningful baseball the last week of the regular season. I guess that's what happens when the Blue Jays AREN'T in town!!

No way anyone has a response in regards of saying you're wrong. I'm impressed.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 it's tough to separate a pitcher like jimenez from who he was in the season and who he was last night. Sure his season was crap, but last night you look at the replays and his ball was moving all over the place and Angel was giving him the pitches just off the plate. Any lineup in baseball would have struggled against what he did last night. Unfortunately some of the Jays refuse to cut down their swings against tough pitching. You'd think after the first time through the lineup they would have thought okay he's got it going tonight, I need to cut it down, 90% effort swings and try and square it up and dump a few singles to get things going.

Deep down, the Mariners fans know they will fall short. Kind of like Oakland.
