TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I'm heading down to see the Jays for a few games at Safeco in September and I'm hoping to get some cards signed. Are you able to go down by the dugouts before/after the game to try and get autographs even if you're not seated near that location? I've been building up my sports-card collection lately and it would be nice to add some Jays sigs to it. Any advice is gladly welcomed! Thanks guys
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Tough when there will be so many jays fans there. Especially with baseball cards as you will have to sort through them when you see that guy approaching. Baseballs are going to be the easiest thing to get signed.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 If you're over 10 years old why are you getting autographs? If you're over 10 years old why don't you have a man cave with signed sports memorabilia on the walls?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Tight pants and pink shirts; if you have a nice butt
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Bring a kid with you. If that doesn't work, then just tell the player he's a bum. Works every time.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 If you're over 10 years old why are you getting autographs? Nah, 10 years old is fine to chase after players for their autographs. My cut off age would be 18.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Bring a kid with you. Glory for the win. In spring training, if you're not a kid, the players won't even acknowledge you.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 It is really tough, I have seen the Jays on the road in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Texas, Tampa, Oakland and have never got an autograph. The wife however got a Donaldson autograph in Detroit last year though. From what I have gathered is this, you either have to be a kid or a good looking women and you are good to go. In Chicago this year Eddy walked up to a 12 year old girl beside me with her Dad and gave her a ball and signed it for her but refused my ball haha.

I was thinking of just coming with a duo-tang with pages of the cards of the Jays roster. There would probably be a few guys like some of the call ups that I don't have, but I have most. The duo-tang would be great for on the spot signatures... No shuffling around and you ensure that the cards stay in good condition.

I guess I'll just give up on this plan then. I realize there's an enormous amount of fans in Seattle any time the Jays come to town, but I thought that that might work in my advantage (IE players are more willing and wanting to show their gratitude and sign more for the fans than they'd usually bother with)

No seriously, it's a crapshoot trying to get autographs before games, I remember one time st the big O trying to get Moises Alou's autograph on a card, I finally waded through the masses and gave him my card, he commented on how cool the card was, but then noticed I didn't give him a pen to sign the damn thing, figured ball players walked around with Sharpies in their jocks. Best way imho, is to send your cards to the Rogers Centre with self addressed stamped return postage with a couple of 20's thrown in for the clubbies, may take a couple months but you'll get your s*** signed, just be reasonable with the quantity of stuff you are sending
vdartanian Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Also in most cases guys won't sign s*** once they start their BP/warmups
