Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Bingo. Essentially this is the Jays agreeing to take money and and arm, for another arm and 2 prospects and the pleasure of paying Liriano 17 million for 1 year in 2017. Theres no such thing as a bad one year deal. Liriano is actually 13.67M next year.
King Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I guess I should've said I wish him well instead. Taking too much heat for my comment. Hutch is highly hated around here you should have figured
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 money? keep filling the seats, watching the game ( most people have cable still ), listening to the game on the radio, cellphones, buying blue jay stuff etc etc at this pace?!?!!? Money won't be an issue...remember thetr is a COUNTRY behind this team
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 pretty odd we haven't heard of the name of the 2nd prospect, must be a filler
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Hutch is highly hated around here you should have figured Ya I'm dumn
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 So next year we are looking at a rotation of Sanchez Stroman Happ Estrada Liriano Not bad. Not bad at all.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Hutch is highly hated around here you should have figured Nick Kingham would be sexy
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I think the guys in the front office knows more about where next year's budget is than you and I do. Atkins has been, and even said again today, we have payroll flexibility We're in good hands guys be happy holy Well I would hope the guys in the front office know more about the financial flexibility of the club then I do lmao. And who's not happy? I said $17M is not nothing.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 pretty odd we haven't heard of the name of the 2nd prospect, must be a filler they claimed they haven't been able to get a hold of the 2nd prospect....doesn't mean he will be a filler just yet
Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 pretty odd we haven't heard of the name of the 2nd prospect, must be a filler Atkin's said that Pittsburgh was unable to reach him to let him know so that they won't announce the name until they've told him.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 He definitely isn't awesome. At the very best he's passable. IIRC you were the biggest Hutch fanboy.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 pretty odd we haven't heard of the name of the 2nd prospect, must be a filler I think someone said the Pirates haven't been able to reach him yet, and they want to be the ones to notify him rather than him hearing it on social media. Probably is more filler than sexy though.
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 we are filling the seats...continue that trend...it's not your money...winning = $$$$ But when ticket prices rise a little the fans lose their minds.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Liriano is actually 13.67M next year. Even better. 17 million must be the total money owed between now and the end of next year
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well I would hope the guys in the front office know more about the financial flexibility of the club then I do lmao. And who's not happy? I said $17M is not nothing.[/quote $17M is crazy money....but how much is the " company " making? i have no idea but 100% it's a crazy number....Canada has 1 MLB team. They aren't losing esp with the seats we have filled this year and viewers
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well I would hope the guys in the front office know more about the financial flexibility of the club then I do lmao. And who's not happy? I said $17M is not nothing. I'm just saying it won't handcuff us
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 But when ticket prices rise a little the fans lose their minds. As they do in every market
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 The best part of this deal is the fact that it probably means no Dickey next year. And you forgot: no more Thole too lol Praise the Lord!
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Ya it should be "What will you do in 10 years?" Maybe we should have traded for Harper then. Could've had him for a song
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 IIRC you were the biggest Hutch fanboy. I was a pretty damn big fan boy when he first came up. Thought if he put everything together he could be a #2.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 But when ticket prices rise a little the fans lose their minds. Which " fans " are you talking about? I went to 3 playoff games last year....it was worth it for me
Lil Looper Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Id rather have hutch than liriano especially with liriano's price tag. He is leading the league in walks 5.5 BB/9 Nothing is more infuriating than guys who can't throw strikes. A f***ing >1.6 WHIP Save the 13 mil for someone who isnt s*** next year. Hutch would have done more this year than liriano. The prospect is obviously an important part of this but why not make this deal in the offseason.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 So next year we are looking at a rotation of Sanchez Stroman Happ Estrada Liriano Not bad. Not bad at all. Plus a real backup catcher that can hit better than .160
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I'm just saying it won't handcuff us I think the guys in the front office knows more about where next year's budget is than you and I do.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 As they do in every market I'm planning a trip to Toronto for next month to catch a few games, I was surprised at how cheap tickets are. I may just be used to ticket prices for NHL games lol I could catch 3 baseball games for the price of 1 game at Rexall.
canadiansportsjunkie Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Maybe we should have traded for Harper then. Could've had him for a song he still can....i have always like hutch but for this team...right now...solid deal
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well I would hope the guys in the front office know more about the financial flexibility of the club then I do lmao. They aren't losing esp with the seats we have filled this year and viewers That's pretty irrelevant if they don't increase team spending.
