Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I find that unlikely. Jose De Leon does that. Not many others though.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Is De Leon better than Osuna? Well hes a starter and Osuna isnt, so yes.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Is De Leon better than Osuna? He's completely shredded the minor leagues as a starting pitcher. I see no reason to think that if he came up he couldn't at least be a dominant reliever right now, with pretty much ace level potential.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 This team needs to add another Osuna not trade him away.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Well hes a starter and Osuna isnt, so yes. So he can throw 4 innings once every 5 days and Osuna can throw 3, all in high leverage. A key difference being that Osuna has proven that he can dominate MLB hitters. I don't think you can confidently say that De Leon makes the team better.
OneManAsylum Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 This team needs to add another Osuna not trade him away. Agreed!!
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Just imagine if we were in 4th place, what kind of haul we'd be getting back in prospects right now! None of us would be able to hide our erections! Completely disagree. I am exceptionally talented at hiding my erections.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 It would be real tough to subtract an important part of the team in a pennant race (even if just for optics reasons). But man if someone offered a Frazier, Gallo, De Leon, etc in the offseason for Osuna we should be all over it.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Maybe Morales/Chavez can close in his place.
vilifyingforce Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Probably the guy who started the thread Todd.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 He probably also wants to trade Sanchez while his value is high.

wamco Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 A lot of people dont realize, but our pen is good. We are 5th in the league in xFIP-. People idiotically ignoring xfip when watching the pen choke time and time again.

But in all reality, I don't think its too crazy, I'd definitely do it for a 3/4 player package with one top 50./

BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Think what we could get from the Dodgers, Giants or Rangers. This reliever bubble won't last.. If Osuna was on a small market team, sure. But we're large market. f*** that s***.

admin Site Manager Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 If we had a good pen I would definitely consider it. But we don't, and need all the help we can get. I can't believe what Miller got, that's insane. We should start buying free agent relievers and just trade them at the deadline for prospects. Profit.
Lil Looper Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 The prospect porn in this place reeks of the loser years Most prospects completely fail. The odds of Osuna's return ever doing better in their careers are very low. No more prospect fapping until they produce at the MLB level. This is maybe thread worthy if we are 30 games under 500, not in a playoff spot

admin Site Manager Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Remember not too long ago is was crazy to give a reliever $4M+ per year.

Unreal. f*** though if you could trade Osuna to the Dodgers for De Leon, I wouldn't think twice.

This is maybe thread worthy if we are 30 games under 500, not in a playoff spot Christ all mighty this is so stupid. I'm not advocating trading Osuna -- but the "prospects fail" s*** is retarded. It's simple. Every player has an established level of performance. Maybe they will get better, maybe they will get worse. Players fail. Minor league players fail, major league players fail. There is nothing magical about producing at the major league level... Anothony Gose produced at the major league level as his minor league numbers indicated he would. Hechavaria produced at the major league level as his minor league numbers indicated he would. Mike Trout produced at the major league level as his minor league numbers indicated he would. Devon Travis - minor leagues .855 OPS, majors .822 Mike Trout - minor leagues .920 OPS, majors .950 (increased power)

For every Devon Travis there's a bunch of Travis Sniders.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Heresy! Number one farm system > championships . Little red sox fan -- Daddy where did Mookie Betts come from?? Was he a free agent?? Where did Bogartz come from?? What about Jackie Bradley JR. Who did they trade for him?? Daddy (laughing) - Where do you think they came from?? Mommy (worried) - I don't know if he is old enough to understand.... Daddy (knows best) - Let's go for a drive (vroom, vroom, vroom, up to Maine) Little red sox fan - Where are we, wow it's a little baseball stadium. Daddy smiling Mommy (proud of Daddy for knowing best) Little red sox fan -- Who are these guys?? Beni... Benti... Daddy - His name is Benninttendi, and the other is Moncada... Little red sox fan -- Wow... who are they?? Daddy -- They're little baby red sox son.. and someday they will kick the s*** out of Blue Jays and Orioles... it is the circle of life.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Wow... talk about over simplifying something. For every Devon Travis there's a bunch of Travis Sniders. There are also Josh Johnson's, Richard Hidalgos... There are tonnes of guys who failed after establishing themselves... Eric Hinske... what about Yasiul Puig?? Starlin Castro?? I'm not saying "guys don't fail" tonnes of guys fail. Minor league stats translated propertly show WHERE A PLAYER IS. No one know what the future is. However MILB stats are reliable as major league stats if translated properly. Snider is .300 .370 .500 as a minor leaguer... some of that is in Vegas and other nice hitting parks.. so if you translate it all he is maybe .265 .330 .450 (I don't know if it is that exactly, but something like that). Majors he under performed... .240 .310 .400 of something?? However it is not like a huge under performance... The margin just wasn't that much for Snider -- he was .265 .330 .450 talent.. if he got a little better he could of made it, instead he got a little worse.
