As for the Jays’ interest, it’s important to note that the team is surely looking elsewhere as well. Is a LOOGY really necessary? I know Gibbons still manages like it's 1985 so a LOOGY might be needed to match his managerial style, but just get a RP who can get guys out period and hope the nimrod uses him properly.

Todd is a smart guy. Let's use the last two years as examples. in 2015 Cecil posted a 2.34 FIP and 2016 his FIP is 4.42. I think it's quite reasonable to expect a bounce back performance in 2017. in 2018 with how volatile RP pitchers are he could very well post <4 FIP.

Well in 2014 in 2 IP in AAA (ignoring his excellent MLB numbers) his FIP was 8.86 and in 2013 his FIP was 2.88.
