jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Do it! We need a lefty in the pen--Cecil is awful and a free agent after this season.

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 17.0 SwSt% This year! Boone has been amazing so far.
GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I fear what he costs with the going rate for a good reliever.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 is he a LOOGY? cause we know how Gibbons handles the pen
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 is he a LOOGY? cause we know how Gibbons handles the pen He is, but a really good one.
JuniorFelix Verified Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Exactly the type of player we should be after. Please!!!
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Acquiring Logan would be a boon to this bullpen for sure.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/boone-logan-trade-interest-rockies-blue-jays-rumors.html As for the Jays’ interest, it’s important to note that the team is surely looking elsewhere as well. Indeed, it appears to be focused on the southpaw side of its pen while also angling to bolster its rotation. Per Morosi, Toronto has had a “high volume” of chatter on lefty relievers. The club’s current depth chart features a struggling Brett Cecil and the just-activated Franklin Morales as southpaw options.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Be a nice little acquisition. He's a free agent after this year though.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Be a nice little acquisition. He's a free agent after this year though. Yeah but there must have been some money earmarked for a Cecil extension this off season that could be given to a better lefty should the opportunity present itself.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Is a LOOGY really necessary? I know Gibbons still manages like it's 1985 so a LOOGY might be needed to match his managerial style, but just get a RP who can get guys out period and hope the nimrod uses him properly.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Not bad not interested in giving up anything significant though for a loogy. I laughed a B prospect lol. He might throw 15 innings.

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Brett Cecil is one of those pitchers who has one good year, then a bad year and so on and so. look up his numbers This guy f***s
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 This guy f***s Todd is a smart guy. Let's use the last two years as examples. in 2015 Cecil posted a 2.34 FIP and 2016 his FIP is 4.42. I think it's quite reasonable to expect a bounce back performance in 2017. in 2018 with how volatile RP pitchers are he could very well post <4 FIP. Todd is onto something.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If I remember correct he's been like that for the last four years Well in 2014 in 2 IP in AAA (ignoring his excellent MLB numbers) his FIP was 8.86 and in 2013 his FIP was 2.88. So we kinda need to cherry pick numbers here, but you're right.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 1/10 Stop trying so hard How dare you question todd's opinion on the minor leaguers. He just put up a top 104 Jays prospect list with well thought out rationale for every spot. This board is lucky to have such knowledgeable posters. understand?
