TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Wouldn't be surprised if this was bush on his own. Guy is not all there, so I could see him doing it on his own. Bush faced Bautista down 5 runs on Friday. If he wanted to "endear" himself to his teammates he would have done it then. And alcoholic and crazy are not the same thing.
BigRed Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 You're really not being consistent, though. "I don't condone drilling a guy with a fastball but that's also just a thing that's done in baseball, so accept it and move on." So f***ing what if that's how it's been done? Hard slides into second are also "how it's been done" but you rightfully aren't ok with them still happening. No, retaliation is stupid because it's childish and dangerous. "My feelings are hurt so I'll hit you with a fastball" is not normal behaviour. You can say "well that's baseball" but that still doesn't make it right. Nah, the end of it should have been the bat flip. Don't like it, get him out next time. If Bautista was angry for being pitched at he should have went after Bush, not Odor, but I wouldn't want to charge a guy who did 3 years or whatever in prison either. I just don't get why going after Odor angrily the way he did made any sense. Odor did nothing. Even if you want to say it used to be a baseball slide, it was just a baseball play, it was just a player going hard into second or whatever, you don't see a guy immediately get up after that and go after the guy they just tried to take out. Bautista was looking for trouble and found it.

Spoonovic Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 What happened to Marty York? Wasn't he some what of a professional a decade ago? He was on Sportsnet almost every night back in the day.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I haven't commented in a while, unfortunately this incident prompted me to comment again. Bautista's slide was terrible. However, throwing 95+ mph baseballs at another human's upperbody is just as bad and possibly worse since it probably instigated the situation. Texas's still butthurt over a bat flip that physically injured no one yet they're pumping their chest about physically assaulting another human being. Waiting till the 8th inning of the last game of the season between both teams is quite pathetic. Their manager is a douche. Odor is a punk. Has anyone mentioned how he almost started a fight against Donaldson when he went Machado over a tag that was "too hard" at 3B? Anyway....
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Marty York lol Marty York @MartyYork 5h5 hours ago Can somebody give me an update on the Blow Jays in Texas? R they about 2 lose yet another series or what? Marty York @MartyYork 5h5 hours ago Is Bautista an absolute disgrace to humanity or what? Marty York @MartyYork 5h5 hours ago @ajw_bassist I guess Bautista had it coming? Dirty, disgraceful and, oh yes, lousy. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago @ajw_bassist tell me, r the homer broadcasters defending that useless Bautista or r they being honest for once? #bautista'sadisgrace Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago R Jays below. 500 yet again? Has Gibbons been fired yet? Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I abhor violence. I don't even watch it in sports. But if anyone had it coming, it was Bautista. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago As I said, I loathe violence. But am I right in suggesting that, if anyone deserved it in MLB, it was that disgraceful Bautista character? Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Bautista put his entire team in a bad situation with that dumb bat flip. His illegal slides don't help. His cockiness + arrogance contribute Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Bautista is dumb, malicious and evil. He does not help his team and brawls do nothing. Jays r a bad team. Below. 500 yet again. #jaysawful Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago This is bautista's fault, pure + simple. He is an absolute disgrace. He's prob going 2 get suspended. Not that Jays will miss him or his bat Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Ok, let's make this perfectly clear: no stupid brawl can make a team win. Only talent can. And the Blow Jays are devoid of much talent. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago @argiesviews Bautista is all talk and show and bat flips. I wonder who'd even WANT to take him off Jays' hands at trade-deadline time. #seeu Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I have a hunch Gibbons has managed his last game for Jays. Has lost complete control. Team below .500 again. Can't catch Orioles, Bosox. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Why does Bautista cheat so much when he slides into second base? Dirty. Disgusting. Despicable. #Iwouldsuspendhimfor10games #timetoheal Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago Anyone who says "we" when referring 2 a team is a loser. Understand this: u r not part of the team u worship. U merely spend ur $ on it. Marty York @MartyYork 4h4 hours ago I applaud and respect Odor of Texas. And I usually detest violence. But Bautista was trying to hurt him. Bautista enjoys hurting people. Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago Zero respect for Stroman. Never have and never will. #knownuserofPEDs #overrated #wouldbeaNo.4or5onmostteams Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago I would definitely rather have Odor on my team than any whining Blue Jay (heck, even that weird 1st-base coach was ejected for whining 2day) Marty York @MartyYork 3h3 hours ago And the Raptors are whiners, too. Especially that Lowery guy. #cavsinfour I suppose I can't support Bush saying that alcoholism is a disease and then rip York...but this f***er needs help.

Protip: It has more credibility if somebody else writes 'rekt' instead of the author. Same rule applies to the now archaic 'pwned'
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Would it have been acceptable for Bautista to charge the mound and try to take Bush's head off with a punch after the Hbp? Ignore the fact that Jose wouldn't have done it, but would that have been okay by you? No, HBP happens. If somebody tries a takeout slide on one of our guys, with a high probability of injury, I'd have no problem with someone punching him in the face, and neither would any of our players. I guarantee you that Texas fans love the fact that Odor punched Jose in the face. Hope more guys start doing this kind of thing. Absolutely no reason to do it, especially when all that slide does is guarantee an automatic double play.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Apparently, Eric Byrnes and Alex Cora are alleging that Odor tried to hit Bautista in the face with the throw to 1B and when you look at a slo-mo replay, it looks like Bautista saw it coming and ducked his head at the last milisecond.

He knows little about baseball. Ex-Fan boss Nelson Millman, another turkey, hired him. Why? Dunno. But here's some trivia: Wilner lived in the same bedroom as a youth that had been lived in by Nelson Millman. The Wilners bought the home that the Millmans sold. Marty York @MartyYork 1h1 hour ago @vinefan99 I suspect it had something to do with his hiring. You know, sentimental crap. SAAviour Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 I'd be truly sad and embarrassed to be a Rangers fan today. What the f***, all because the guy hit a massive home run and tossed his bat, man up you bitches. It was sad enough listening to Dyson whine about it after the game last year, but Christ, move on losers. You lost. Walk it off, f*** some bitches, cry in your locker, punch a wall, but have some f***ing dignity! If Osuna gave up a three run home run for the ages I'd be disgusted to hear him whine about it after. So pathetic. Plus, I think Admin said if Tulo levelled Machado under same circumstances we'd all be cheering about it. I disagree, I'd be disgraced.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Entertaining game but what's kind of lost in this is what a horrible loss that was. The Jays had every chance to blow that game open with Texas pretty much begging them to do it with their sloppy play and the Jays just can't execute situational hitting. I also don't like Chavez being used in late game, high leverage bullpen spots. Is Cecil out of commission right now or something?

The unwritten rules of baseball are so far ingrained in the game that there was no way Bautista wasn't going to get plunked at some point this season against the Rangers. I think a lot of people here are down-playing the whole bat-flip thing to: It wasn't like he just flipped his bat out of excitement, the bat-flip was a total F-U to the Rangers and done what I think was mocking manner. Bautista's a fiery guy and he gets angry, and when he's angry- watch out, but if you show up a team like that you're gonna get drilled.

TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Fine, drill him first time up then and That's that. Yeah, the timing of the whole thing was really suspect. Especially when he's leading off the inning in a 1 run game in the 8th. Perhaps they were dead-set for whatever reason to do it during what would be his last-at bat of the season against them... You know, just do it then and be done with it and know that it's not gonna be a distraction riling about the next time you play the Jays.
TheGrandslamMan Verified Member Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 It came up aces for the Rangers though. Looks a lot more respectful when you do it when you're winning and not blown out and butt-hurt or whatever.

The more you look at it, the more it does seem like it was Odor who was trying to hit Bautista in the face with the throw. Video evidence is pretty clear on this. Beltre made a poor throw to him, he caught it like inches off the ground. He had to make a low throw to have any shot at the DP. It also didn't help that Bautista was just starting his slide a few feet from the bag and going on his way down, when he should have already been on the ground. If he slides normal that ball is nowhere near him. It's kind of embarrassing. Bautista got punked, and now fans are grasping at straws like Odor was trying to hit Bautista, with zero evidence, while ignoring the fact that Bautista started he slide ontop of the bag, going a good 5-6 feet past it. If he was sliding into the bag and not past it that ball is nowhere near him.
