Wonder where we'd be if we traded Saunders.

Good question. Shapiro and Atkins should be thanking their lucky stars that trade didn't work out. Also Saunders should be starting every single game.

Out of curiosity, who would have pitched after Tepera?

Only guy left was Estrada maybe. Stroman and Dickey (PH) both played and Happ and Sanchez pitched deep in the previous two games.

Probably Estrada but they would have made Tepera pitch until his arm fell off

Saunders should be starting every game and leading off every game. Also... There was nobody in the pen after Tepera, and they already used Dickey to fail to bunt... The only players eligible to pitch were Estrada, Happ, Sanchez and Thole.

Thole would have done better than Tepera. Or, even better, Thole to C, Martin to 2B, Goins to 3B, and Donaldson in to pitch. Lol!

I don't remember, but I looked it up. April 17th, game 2 of a DH in Minnesota.

Jays up 5-3 in the bottom eighth. BP comes in:

Delabar: 0.1 IP, 2 ER, 2 BB

Santos: 0.0 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB

Happ: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB

I know there were lots of wild pitches in there but maybe nothing that contributed outside of the walks? Couldn't find the count. Anyway, Jays lost 9-5 on 8 8th inning walks.

I don't get why he's not starting every game. Still injured? To protect his knee? He should definitely be leading off....Pillar does better further down in the line-up.

How much longer does Shapiro go before he makes a trade for a bullpen arm? Or does he wait it out to see if Cecil gets back to form and how Loup does?

Are the Jays still on the hook for Morales's $2M?

Funny fact: Jays, Indians and O's all trailed by one run in the 9th today. They all scored one run each to tie it. They all lost in extra innings. hehee

I never really expect much from Pillar with the bat, until he can actually lay off some f***ing pitches he's an afterthought in the lineup to me, and should be as low as is reasonable.

I don't see a trade happening for a while, but I don't have a crystal ball... I doubt they want to move much if any prospect capital.

Yep. Well, officially as of next week I believe, but they can't release him while he's injured so they're basically f***ed.

Realistically the Jays don't have any real prospect capital left to land anyone of note even if they wanted to.

pompey, alford, srf, greene and Urena would be the top 5 imo, maybe tellez.... and I doubt there's a lot of teams that see any of them as top shelf guys.

Hell, next year the Jays are going to need Pompey to be in the outfield along with Pillar and Saunders when Bautista is gone unless by some act of retardation he takes the qualifying offer.

Gibbons was all baseballed out. Said "Put Tepera in, I'm tired, let's go home."

Saunders is a FA too.

is it 9 free agents this year? Saunders makes so much sense to trade if they stay in the middle. There is a replacement available and his value is at an all time high.

Red Sox might win the division but if the Jays are still in the WC position I don't think you can trade anyone. Pompey despite the tools doesn't look like he can be counted on to be an everyday player yet. Below average bat and defense still sounds shaky.

Looking at the Jays roster and prospects, it really is hard to be optimistic beyond 2016.

I'm looking forward to seeing RA Dickey get ranked as like a top 5 free agent pitcher this year.

I agree thats why they need to capitalize this year. A playoff run gives the team a lot more financial flexibility so they can acquire more talent in the offseason.

I'm still not overly comfortable with the rotation for the playoffs. Right now we'd be looking at Stroman, Happ, Estrada and Sanchez as the 4, unless Sanchez has to go back to the pen late in general seaosn, in which case Dickey becomes the defacto 4, barring any moves or injuries.

That's a solid regular season rotation, but when the playoffs come and you're facing solid 1s and 2s for probably 6 of the possible 7 games in a series... I don't like it.

Couple that with the current pen situation, and so much fail on offense....I'm getting a headache

When you look at the other potential playoff rotations I don't think its that bad. Red Sox or Mariners rotation isn't any better IMO. You hope the offence turns it around soon though. I think the pen sorts itself out. Osuna, Cecil Floyd and Chavez is pretty good.

Did you watch the World Series last year?

Has Morales even pitched in one game this year? I wonder if the Brewers knew of this shoulder problem and that's why they cut him?

Don't you think the Jays did a physical on him before signing him?

Yep. They'll need to find replacements in RF, 1B, DH, LF, and the usual (SP/RP/BN depth) and the existing core on offense will all be in their 30's (Donaldson/Tulo/Martin), and the young talent coming up is essentially Pompey. Then you're left with hoping Travis is both healthy and anywhere near the type of impact talent he was in 2015 going forward.

People flipped out when I said AA pulled a Ruben Amaro (how dare I compare him to Amaro???), but look where the team is heading. They might make the playoffs in 2016 if the vets start to hit, but my god, it looks like s*** after that.

The nice thing is we don't need SP next year (with the SP market so bad)

Stroman

Sanchez

Estrada

Happ

Hutch

Leon?

With some prospects on the way
