THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 He threw only 20 sinkers last start. Please expand on this joint confusion concept? And without using Pat Tabler since he is one of the worst analysts in baseball. Sorry, I meant "muscle confusion". Read this article from Hayhurst, it's pretty good. http://dirkhayhurst.com/2016/06/height-doesnt-measure-heart-but-it-does-measure/ And I'm fairly confident that many of those "4SM" on Brooksbaseball were actually 2SM missing high, since most, if not all, had the same horizontal movement as the 2SM.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The sinker wasn't the only problem. Every pitch that got hit either didn't break, move or got too much of the plate. Nothing was working Yeah, I noticed that as well, and it's been the case for awhile now. Hayhurst's theory on muscle confusion is an intriguing explanation.
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 he literally adjusted his windup this week in order to pound the sinker lower in the zone. we're gonna need a bigger boat.

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 At the end of the day Stroman did his job against the White Sox. Only gave up 2 earned runs and if the defense did it's job it would have been tied 2-2 in the 8th inning. Not a good start but 100% acceptable

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Doesn't matter it's a team sport and he did his job. Well yeah, he went out and pitched, that's his job. He didn't do a very good job though, nothing was really different between this start and most of his recent ones, except a perceived increase in his 2-seam's velocity.

His pitch selection was actually worse imo and his offspeed still can not be used effectively because he can't throw strikes with the 2 seam.

So then aren't you agreeing with me that he wasn't good? His results were just as poor as what we saw from him this afternoon, save for some good pitches made to Jose Abreu a couple of times.

The velocity being up is great but it's time to scrap that 2SM grip, that should be obvious.

West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Stroman = Ricky Romero 2.0 Not yet, Romero couldn't throw strikes, Stro is just getting hit, he doesn't walk as many batters as Romero did.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Also Romero's career ended because of his knees. Stroman is healthy.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Also Romero's career ended because of his knees. Stroman is healthy. Well we are assuming he is.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Stroman is pitching on Friday right? There will be a bunch of bandwagoners coming to that game. Wonder how they will react when Stroman puts up another goose egg.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 His velocity was up, he pitched more aggressively and his breaking balls all missed down. Sounds like a guy who is close
