BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I can't see Castro signing here, he'll be starting for someone. It'd be nice, but that's a pipe dream. You Sir are correct, plus what are we looking for and to spend on a backup catcher here really or realistically when our starter gets paid a kings ransom to play already. Castro, Suzuki are starters most likely, somewhere. so looking at the next tier or best bets to the backup role of catcher i see Nick Hundley,Geovany Soto, as possible and a Dark horse in Jeff Mathis as Ross most likely retires. plus all can hit LH pitching so there is that!

Mathis or Conger, and I'd be happy as a pig in s***...
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Mathis or Conger, and I'd be happy as a pig in s***... I would lean towards Mathis then if we have to choose between those two options! reasons being conger cant hit from either side well and Mathis since 2014 seems to have figured out LHP somewhat at least. Plus he is a ex Jay so he may not object to coming to Toronto. plus his stat line from sss in the dome from that year of 110 at bats,17 r, 31 h, 9 2B, 5 HR, with a .282 ave, .319 obp, 500 slg , 819 ops seem interesting plus he only cost 1.5 mil just last year same as conger so it a tie there. so i give the edge to Mathis since he is easier on my eyes!!!! lol

Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Cecil is gone I think. I feel the same, as Shatkins, didn't bring him up at all.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I love him, man. I truly hope we re-sign him. Like, he f***ed me over in fantasy, but I have such fondness for him. Probably because so many casual fans hated him, made me like him even more.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 So I guess that makes Sanchez the guy who has been with this team the longest?
Governator Community Moderator Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 So I guess that makes Sanchez the guy who has been with this team the longest? Probably Ryan Goins heh

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Loup He was drafted the same year as Tepera if you count minor league time.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Gold Glove finalists are out - Pillar and Dickey are the only Jays. Donaldson lost out to Machado, Seager and Beltre.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 How many games does someone need to play to be nominated at their position? I remember that Machado played at least 1 month at Shortstop. From the Rawlings website: infielders and outfielders must have played in the field for at least 690 total innings through his team’s 137th game: this equates to playing in the field for approximately 7.5 innings per game in approximately 67% of his team’s games by his team’s 137th game; this ensures that only full-time players are considered); All infielders and outfielders with at least 690 total innings played qualify at the specific position where he played the most innings (i.e. where his manager utilized him the most)

I'm surprised Donaldson didn't get a shot, but it's not like the choices are bad either. 3B defence in the AL is pretty strong

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Is KK nominated in CF? Or did he miss too many games? Yeah Kiermaier and Jackie Bradley Junior are the other CFs.

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Yeah Kiermaier and Jackie Bradley Junior are the other CFs. I'm surprised they nominated someone who is not considered a qualified player by their own stats. I guess it makes sense considering he still accumulated the highest Defensive Runs Saved in CF.

I remember in '99 when Palmeiro won the GG while playing only 28 games at first base, compared to 128 as a DH.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Yeah Palmeiro was no first baseman but man the guy could sure hit homeruns on RBI Baseball 94
