I think people are pretty much in agreement that Jose should DH when he gets back, but the x-factor is that Jose will probably be pissed about being seen as a DH going into FA. He might bitch and moan his way back into the OF.

Why the hell not? Get him to DH. Batista is going to be back in the field when he is back.

He's kind of mediocre as a DH

If he comes cheap enough is EE being at 1B, Jose in RF and Bruce at DH and improvement on EE at DH, Smoak at 1B and JB in RF? We also could use "outfield" depth next season.

We aren't the Yankees. José and Edwin are old

It's a huge improvement offensively and a wash defensively.

You have no idea if that is true or not. Bautista seems like a team player to me and would do whatever Gibby told him to.

When he can play on the toe, pain will be a factor for awhile. I think you will see him at DH willingly for some time.

Edwin has been playing serviceable 1B which helps. Smoak won't get many ABs in foreseeable future.

don't think anybody would've thought that Bautista would be cool with leading off, let alone suggesting it himself.

Jays have scored more runs than any club since June 1st, and it isn't even close, all without Joey Bats!!

Really hope the Jays do like the Cards with Pujols and just let him walk.

The Indians should be looking at Cargo. 8.5M this year and 20M next year while leading the division with one of baseball's worst outfields. Plus stay out of Boston please.

It would be tough to target a bat-only Rockies player as a deadline target. The Coors hangover seems to be pretty real, and long-lasting.

Tulo might have just started to get over his move these past few weeks..

I am going to the Jays game tonight, never really care about promos besides bobble heads, T-shirt giveaway tonight, what size are they? They best not be XL only or I will use it as a snuggie only.

Well, I got a t-shirt during the 30th season (so obviously ten years ago) and it was a large, which I always thought was stupid. Then I didn't go for anything until last year when I got the hoodie at the last game, and it's an XL. So I assume they've switched everything to that size. Actually, even the winter hat I got in 2014 is ridiculously big.

Boston has no need for him.

Sure. But he's a classic Dombrowski target.

Well to be fair, I don't think anyone that goes with the account name "banned" is really hiding from their past history. Mind you, I have some of the worst "Spanky" sense on the board so I don't actually know who this is. MJ?

It was definitely MJ. Posts 200 times in his "first" GDT, already hates Spanky despite being a new poster, berates every player for not going the other way... It's always the same thing. I find that he'll try to pass himself off as a rational person at the beginning of each new account, but then very quickly falls into the same old s***.

Boston takes what they want and figures out the rest later. Atleast they try too. Doesn't always work out

Who gives a s***?

If you see a post from Spanky in the hours between 9pm and 4am, try to disregard it if it's an insult and also if it doesn't make any sense.

Grilli equivalent as in what? Someone who would be almost free but we could reasonably expect to be good going forward?

There probably isn't one in terms of outfielders. Have to pay for a real human asset.

Well, not someone who comes as borderline free as Grilli did, but someone who won't cost much to acquire because of age or performance that could improve. I don't expect Shapkins to be trading any real prospects, but I hope they target an OF, preferably someone who can cover RF. Smoak is not taking advantage of his playing time at 1B, and Bautista in RF before the toe problem was bad so I don't want to see how bad it is after.

Last year we got Lowe and Revere for nothing. Two moves similar to that would be ideal.

Has there been any updates on Bautista ?

Out of the boot, seems hopeful for end of the month return is what I read but that timeline seemed very speculative.

Seeing the RC packed almost every night is taking me back to last year and the early 90s.

Shapiro has some tough decisions ahead and his MO isn't to sign a bunch of aging expensive FAs. But you have to think as a business they don't want to lose the momentum built in 2015 and so far this season. Coast to coast the Jays are killin it. Our little league enrollment in Calgary was up 30% this year and a lot of it is because of the Jays.

You'd think they'd make the seats a bit wider in that case.

You can't please everyone. I'm 6'6 with wide shoulders, so XL is a necessity. If it's long sleeve, I don't even bother trying. Large seems like a fair compromise for everyone though.
