RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Shapiro is pretty thorough If the teams falls out of contention he will want to have players scouted already and deals in play He already mentioned on PTS that they were talking to many teams about many players.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 The Jays are 0.5 game out of the 2nd Wild Card, tied with 3 teams. This is like the worst spot to be in. Not good enough to feel confident that they are a playoff team, but not bad enough to start trading pieces away for next season. The team better play really well or s*** the bed from now until July 31st to give us a better idea of what they are, good or bad. I've seen enough 82-85 win teams to not be impressed by them. At least in the JPR years they were 82-85 win teams with 2 super teams ahead of them and only one WC. Doing it now means nothing.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Well we have been horrible this year. For example compare our home vs road record. Traditionally we are a very good home team We have to think this will come back a bit. The amount of games the bullpen has just thrown away can't possibly continue. We have blown 6-7 more leads than any other team in baseball.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I'm honestly more excited for the prospect haul than making a shot at the wild card. This team has some obvious flaws that will be expensive (talent wise) to fix, so better to just sell

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 7k through 4 for happ this is going well
puphood Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 After Friday Shapiro/Atkins better shake some money out of Rogers and get in the lineup to Buy.....
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Jays have the best run differential in the division.

This team has some obvious flaws that will be expensive (talent wise) to fix, so better to just sell I just don't get this. The Jays are second in run differential in the AL. Bautista is coming back. Tulo and Martin got off to historically terrible starts vs their career stats and are both playing better. Cecil just got back. The Jays can and should be focused on winning the division. This team has good starting pitching, defense and a top offense. They need a bullpen arm. Cecil will help. A bullpen piece should be something you can acquire without too much cost. I do believe Sanchez will pitch in the rotation all year and I may be in the minority on this. Too many people are far too excited to get the 20 year rebuild started. I don't get that mentality when the team is as good as it is.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Edwin suspended one game for bumping Crapazza. He's appealing. Should have thrown a right hook at him. That's how you get single games knocked off a punishment, right?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 So so far. That 19 inning loss has been anything but demoralizing. I guess when you lose with 2 position pitchers pitching it doesn't feel that bad when everyone litterally put there heart and soul into the game. Looks like a pretty f***ing inspired team to me.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Nice man enjoy the game! I'm in the shade all game woooo Being there that early gave me some shade prior to the game, but once it started it was mostly all sun, aside from the sporadic cloud coverage. Wore sunscreen and still ended up with the weirdest burn on one of my legs. It was obviously a great game, though, so whatever.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Donaldson once again second in MLB behind Trout in fWAR (not including today's game) tied with Altuve. Didn't realize Trout was hitting close to .330, ridiculous.
admin Site Manager Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I was at the lake so wasn't watching fully, but was there any reason in the 19 inning game why Gibbons didn't go with Hutch for multiple innings rather than Goins and Barney?

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Trout can't win MVP because the Angels are one of the worst teams in the American League. So really as of now its between Donaldson and Altuve. Not saying I agree with that but Trout would have to win the triple crown to even be in the conversation because the Angels are atrocious.

Yeah it's pretty dumb. Trout could/should have 4 MVP awards already.

It's crazy how he should have an MVP for every season he's played to this point.

vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I sometimes feel like I should start keeping notes of all the idiotic things people say at games. One of the most annoying today was this guy who kept suggesting that everyone just bunt down the third base line. And not even just when Saunders or Smoak were up and they were shifted over, but also when Martin was batting with a runner on third...and there were two outs. "Why isn't he just bunting up the third base line here? There's only one guy there. And even if he gets thrown out at first, a run still scores." It's just too much sometimes.
