I was just looking at the probable pitchers, dang they have a nice rotation.

they have always had a nice rotation, bunch of #2s.

Last year the team was s*** because of the god awful defense

They can't hit worth a snatch either. Let's not oversell it. Over the course of the year many teams will have their steak

Let's wait more than half a season before saying things like that.

He was being sarcastic

Atkins was just on with Blair... It was quick so here's some notes:

- Trade talks picked up in the past week

- Having Osuna on the team is a blessing because it's almost impossible to get like him/with his caliber via trade

- Martin criticism is unwarranted, team's asking a lot of him; also discussed possibly carrying 3 catchers but that's pretty much dead now

- Bautista coming back is "biggest thing this team needs"

- Hutch doing really well, praises the fact we have 6 pro starting pitchers doing well, but if we don't need him as a starter in the playoff run expect him up here in the BP

- Basically still stands by that Sanchez won't be moved to the BP unless they see obvious signs of arm wearing out in the rotation

He would be back quicker if they just cut the toe off...

Chad Jenkins era is over :( 20th overall pick in 2009. 100 innings of 3.32 ERA ball

My best memory of Jenkins is that time he held the Tigers scoreless for a million innings in that 19-inning marathon a couple of years ago.

His career peaked in that game.

The Blue Jays are averaging over 38,000 per game this year - http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance (actually 38,123 after drawing 41,365 tonight) and are 6 in attendance (probably tied for 5th now since they slightly outdrew NY Yankees tonight).

On the other hand, the Cleveland Indians are last in attendance at 16,656 (worse than Tampa Bay). Last year they only averaged 17,806 and were 29th out of 30 teams - http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance/_/year/2015

Why is the Cleveland attendance so bad?

Their fanbase is horrible.

I imagine this was the last spot Shatkins wanted to be in half way through the season. Caught between contention and rebuilding with two premier sluggers about to hit free agency, a year after the organization ended the longest playoff drought in the league. Up against a fan base that will call for their heads if they do anything but sell the hobby farm at the deadline.

Because Cleveland is a grim place.

The team is 0.5 games back of a WC spot. That's not really "caught between contending" and something else. It's just contending.

Sure. Same could be said for 5 other teams who are within 3 games. Vying for a one game playoff spot isn't really an enviable situation to be in though, especially when it might be your last kick at the can.
