Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Why is Morales all of a sudden a lock to be in the pen? He's not good.... Our FO, thinks different.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Credit goes to James J on twitter for that Boston, Baltimore, NY have combined for 10 losses when leading into the 7th, compared to the Jays 11 on their own. Btw Jays have a 33-11 record in those games overall. Apparently those 44 games are the 2nd most in MLB (to the Cubs) for leading after 6 innings.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Goes on to show you the biggest weakness on the team It's a damning number compared to the other AL teams but I'd still like to see the magnitude of each loss. How many leads were single-run and thus open to bloops and bunts to erase. On the other hand, the blown leads were also fairly frequent early in the season. I don't think the bullpen has been particularly bad lately even though the early track record was rocky.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 I think that it would be a huge mistake not to cash in at trading EE at the deadline, especially if a ready for MLB front line pitcher is available.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 And it's not just been the pen... it's often been offensive failures too Well...to be fair, the stat does say leading after 6. Which means the offense gave them the lead with 3 innings left in the game. That's mainly on the pen.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 The Jays are 10th in runs per game in all of MLB. The offence hasnt played to its potential but the issue is our bullpen costs us too many close games. The Rangers are allowing 4.26/game, same as us. They have scored only .29/game more than us, 4.94 vs 4.65, yet they are 23 games above .500, the Jays are 4 above. Jays are 8-13 in one run games, Rangers 17-5!

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Not sure why you say this. They aren't that different from Loup's (611 OPS against versus Loup's 582). Not a fan of using OPS when Loup has pitched in much more difficult ballparks his entire career.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Watching NYY getting beat by TEX 5-1 and selfishly loving the fear and disappointment in the voices of the Yank's announcers. Would love to the f***ing O's take a nosedive anytime soon. Their offense has been ridiculous and their pitching is better than it should be.

They are all over the place. Just don't mention anything and let whatever happens happen. If he shows signs of fatigue and is breaking down towards August or so, then make the move. No need to keep mentioning it.

Last year during the division race I spoke to a Yankee fan fairly frequently and he was pretty down about the Yanks' chances v the Jays. I remember being polite and giving him the not-over-till-it's-over talk, but deep down I felt dirty, like a traitor who sold out his tribe. A Blue Jay fan consoling a Yankee fan over the Yanks trailing a playoff race... disgusting.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Cecil expected to return tomorrow, and possibly Morales as well. Tepera and Schultz are expected to be sent to Buffalo (AAA). And boy the Jays pen needs it.. and really never wants to see Coors Field again, where pitchers get destroyed regularly on either team..

Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Tough series with Indians. At worst I hope we split though. We need to make a statement at home.
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I'd be happy with a 6-5 record on this next home stand, preferably 7-4, but Cleveland is obviously hot and Kansas City and Detroit have played better lately. Doesn't look like Ventura is going to pitch in the series against the Blue Jays as he just pitched Tuesday and got lit up against the Cardinals. He's scheduled to pitch in Philadelphia prior to Toronto so hopefully he gets beaned and booed in the unfriendly confines of a national league park!

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Hopefully by the end of the weekend, the Blue Jays front office will have worked out a deal with their Cleveland buddies to keep some of the Indians north of the border when they leave town on Sunday!! f***in LeBron James, I blame this all on him!! He's given the players for all the teams in The Mistake By The Lake too much confidence and a winning attitude now!!
