Hal Johnson Verified Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 So, after doing a quality job at the top of the lineup, Travis is batting 8th tonight, and Zeke is leading off... against a lefty. WTF Gibbons?

WTF Gibbons? Gibbons looked at batting AVG in the lead-off instead of something more useful like "pitches per at-bat".
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Too many moving parts in the lineup. Stick with something.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Gibbons looked at batting AVG in the lead-off instead of something more useful like "pitches per at-bat". Are you sure pitches per at-bat is more useful than Batting Average?
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Are you sure pitches per at-bat is more useful than Batting Average? I could probably get 4+ pitches per at-bat. It's only useful when combined with other stats.
jackadams Verified Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Random information here because I'm too lazy to write an organized response: -Try to get lvl 200 tickets. They are much better than field infield. Preferably on the 3rd base side so the sun isn't in your eyes. They cost the same as field infield tickets and give a better view and a lot more convenient than the lvl 100 concourse clusterf***s -You could always buy a cheap 500 ticket, line up very early and grab a seat at the Alomar bar or the flight deck. Hope you have a strong bladder -stubhub has a '100% guarantee' but it is very expensive. You can also try kijiji or https://www.reddit.com/r/jaystickets if you want to save on fees and USD conversion Thank you Herpderp, That is exactly the type of information I was looking for.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Are you sure pitches per at-bat is more useful than Batting Average? Well, it should at least be considered. Batting AVG wouldn't show any real difference between Pillar and Travis in the leadoff, when we could see Travis getting plenty of 4-pitch+ ABs when Pillar was usually finished in 2 pitches or less.

WTF Gibbons? He is going to stick with Carerra at leadoff until he comes back down to Earth.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 He is going to stick with Carerra at leadoff until he comes back down to Earth. This is realy the problem with Gibbons this year. He waits for s*** to go horribly wrong before he makes the changes he should have made in the first place.

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 What does "avridge" mean? Hopefully Tulowitzki goes nuts offensively when he makes his return to Colorado in a few days. Too bad Morales probably won't be playing against his former team though.

STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I can't believe the longest home run at Coors Field was almost 20 years ago and it wasn't even 500 feet, AND it wasn't by a Rockies player.

This is not why it's happening. 90% of the time the drop off in mph is due to not being able to control the fastball at almost max effort.

So if he was able to control it early on and wasn't able to after 70+ pitches, doesn't it mean he's tired?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 So if he was able to control it early on and wasn't able to after 70+ pitches, doesn't it mean he's tired? If he threw 97 and dropped to 91 and they took him out that early and he was throwing perfect pitch locations the whole time...yes most likely fatigue....hasn't happened from what I have seen 9 times out of 10 he has been really missing with the fastball and then after a visit from the pitching coach or Martin he drops velo and usually starts throwing more strikes
Ehjays Verified Member Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Saw a clip where Mark Buehrle was at the White Sox Jays game and he said he hasn't retired yet....he would consider pitching out of the pen for the Sox or Jays.....The guy said are u serious.....he said I may be.
